I'm in France, papers were lost, I do not know if I am going to use it on circuit, or if I am going to manage to register it.

Hi I'm new here trying to get an answer on what a 1979 429 Stallion worth. It's in o.k shape but does have a couple of cracks here and there. Just a rough Idea. Ser# 1078SA120. Silver with red interior. 15,000 miles. 1979 Thanks, Doug

Default Stallion $$$

The vin decodes as built in October 1978 and is car # 20. The complete
vin would read 1078SA120XXA. As for value it dependes on what the car
is, a Stallion Cobra or a Stallion 429. Stallion Cobras are KIT or Componant
cars, while Stallion 429 are factory built cars.

I've seen in the last 3yrs Stallion cobras go for as little as 20K, and Stallion
429's go for the high 40'sK.

So how do you tell the difference between the a Stallion Cobra and a
Stallion 429? If the seller has the original MSO that will tell you exactly
what the car is. Other than that look the badging front rear and side,
if its Cobra than you have a Stallion Cobra--- if it's a Stallion flying horse
front and rear and Stallion 429 on the side badge it's a Stallion 429.

Hope that helps Fastedy

Default Engine

I'm assuming that you are refering to the photos above, that
would be either a 429 or a 460.

You know, I have seen a lot of 429/460s but never noticed the headers pointing straight down like that . Is that the way they are or is it just the camera angle?

for example my stallion is vin #129 according to your vin explanation it is the 29th car.............that would mean kellison only built 29 cars from 1976 to 1979. kellison had 3 or 4 other cobra builders as vendors for his chassis and bodies, vins were issued to cars without their sequence in mind. also the vin being stamped in the places you describe was in effect the builders responsibility. some cars do not have a vin plate or it stamped on the car anywere. your info comes from where? if this is documented info please share i am sure the rest of us at the kellison registry would welcome the info.
Fred, i think you have the car n° 29.
The prototype was made in 1976.
The first Stallion (Jim's personal car) :
"This photo shows Jim Kellison's car, serial number 1, at its first official showing at the California state fair on August 18, 1977 at the Cal-Expo State Fairgrounds in Sacramento"
The car number 2 is :
Wonder Woman's Car
This Kellison Stallion was serial #2, the second Stallion built. This limited edition luxury sports car was designed and built in 1977 for Wonder Woman

It is completely possible that your car of 1978 is number 29 ??

But what number after the 99 car (SA199)?? SA1100 or SA200 ??

I'm looking at a friend of mines Kellison Cobra to buy. This is what I think I know. It is a 77 or 78 replica of a 67. It was built in California before they moved to Tx. It was one of the 11 or 13 built at that specific plant. The Red Stallion has a 460 in it with 7500 original miles on it. Looks very well taken care of. Trying to figure out how to come up with a fair price. Any help would be appreciated.

I looked at a Stallion in Indy before stumbling on my cobra. It was a really low coupe. I could barely wriggle in and out....tougher than a Lotus Elise. It looked fairly well built but the motor did not run right. I bid on it on bring a trailer and was the top bidder but missed the reserve by a couple grand and now am very glad I did. I really like my VSE Cobra.

Hi. New to the forum and have a VIN question. The VIN on my title is 12785A128XXA. I am wondering if the 5 should be an S I have looked the right side of the frame rail over but have been unable to
Find the VIN anywhere. I did locate at least part of it stamped in the fiberglass on the upper part of the cowl area. I could read the 1278 and it looked like the were12 digits but the rest are unreadable. Any help on an exact location on the frame rail would be appreciated
