Default Winch power supply question

Hi,

Is anyone using a portable power station or portable battery jumper to power thier winch. It seems to me it might work well and I wouldn't have to dedicate and maintain a battery back there for the few times I'll use the winch.

I bought a deep cycle battery with one of those photovoltaic chargers mounted to the side of the trailer to maintane it.
The jumper may work but a good winch takes high amps when in use so I don't think it would last long.

I have seen others run a cable from there tow vehicle battery.

I would be interested in seeing pictures of battery/winch/solar applications if any of you have them. Can't decide on power options or internal/external winch for my enclosed trailer. Thanks for your help.

I think I got mine from northern Hydraulic.I tis a 5watt array that I mounted on the side of the trailer up high and ran to the battery on the floor up front next to the winch.

It maintanes the battery and has a diode so to prevent backflow of the voltage.

I'm going to try the powerstation / jumper approach. They are deep cycle units to a degree by nature. Hopefully, it will hold up. My GT40 only weighs 2200 lbs, so we'll see. I picked a Sears model with a 12mo warranty as the ginnea pig. I'll let you know how it works out!
