Upload Photo Size Limit...
Hehe, just spent an hour or more reducing photo sizes from large jpg's to 800 x 600 and when I tried to upload even a single photo to my gallery I get the "too large" message. I've uploaded a few in the past but had to make them 640 x 400 ... is that the resolution limit? I thought I'd read somewhere that a larger size would work... and no, I don't have many shots in my gallery I think
Thanks,
Dirk

There are size limits to the Gallery. Your photo's are way too big for a monitor. They should be less than 100kB each which is plenty large enough for any monitor.
If you just upload 500 KB photos, you will run out of space in a hurry, and the photo when at full size will be much wider than a normal monitor, so everyone viewing it will have to scroll back and forth on the ultra wide pic - which is a PITA.
Read this thread
Tips on Picture Uploads and Image Sizes
Here is a 45KB sized pic ... just a little too small so the detail is not that good. 80KB or 100KB would be better for this pic.
and a 200 KB sized pic ... more that enough detail for a monitor.
I normally take all my photo's in the 500 KB size for an average day. If its a really nice day and I find some good background, I change the camera shot selection to 2 or 4 MB. Then I can print an 8 by 10 and it looks good.
Then I use the XP Power Toy re-sizer program to resize any of the pics down to about 80 KB that I want to load to CC or any other pic storage site.

No way! I only have about 500 pics of the car in my Gallery, maybe another 200 pics on different photo storage web sites and another 4200 on my hard drive. I'm just getting started, since I've only had the Cobra for 4.5 years (about 13K miles).
Thanks for the comment.
Here is a pic I took late Sunday in S. Boston. The size is only 47 KB, but it was reduced from its original size of 612 KB.

You can reduce quality as well as size with the right program (or a Mac). This is only 103K.

Here's a link to the image resizer that Warren mentions above: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/D...powertoys.mspx
It's by far the easiest image resizer to use. Just download the program. Then to resize a photo, go to wherever that photo is on your computer and right click on it, click on resize pictures and then tell it whether you want to resize the photo to small, medium or large. It will make a new copy or your photo with the exact same file name except the word small, medium or large will be added to the file name. It's very fast and simple.

The reason for different upload limits for some is that contributors get some extras. Like others have indicated. Adjusting size or quality can get your images down to a manageable size.

I've been trying to download photos just now and can't get them to download. Didn't change anything on my camera or download but I get an error message each time I get to the upload/process stage.
Also, how do I delete photos already in my gallery? I read the FAQ's, but I can't find the "delete/edit photo's" prompt it says to use?

Bob,
To delete a photo in your Gallery just click on it to expand it and under it you will see a row or two of icons. One of them, I forget which is an Edit one. Click that one and it will give you the delete option and then ask you if you are sure you want to delete that picture.

If you don't have a real image editor, Irfanview is free and does many basic functions, including cropping, resizing, color correction and jpeg compression to your specs. It also very quickly displays almost every possible graphics file format. Worth every penny.
