Default Wrecked it!

It appears my baby is totalled. I may be able to salvage the engine and drive train to start over.

On a back country road shifting into 3rd when a groundhog darted out in front of me. that's a pretty good sized animal and would do lots of damage so I yanke the wheel left then back to right when the back end started sliding out. I gave it a little gas to power it out of the slide but had no luck. Slid up an embankment went airborn and hit a telephone pole about 1/4 the way up. The pole was below road level since this is a very hilly area. Snapped the pole! I had my 12 yr old daughter with me and we both got out and walked away unhurt! The fiberglass isn't much but Unique makes one heck of a strong frame!

Hope the pic works.

By the way. I can't claim this on my ins. since there is no way I'd ever be able to find ins. again if I did that. So I guess I get to eat the cost. It'll probably take me about 10 yrs to recover from this one

Any car can be replaced. The one thing insurance cannot cover is your life and your daughter's. Glad you are both OK.

If I see a groundhog in front of me, its going thru the center of the radiator.

Bugman, You and your daughter walked away from the wreck. It's truly a shame that the car was totaled but you both still walked away. It's hard to do but count your blessings

Bugman,

That is really to bad but just be happy that you and your daughter were unhurt. The car can be replaced. Some of the new guys should take a good close look at that and your description as they don't know how easy it is to lose one of these over powered beasts.
Best of luck to you and you will have another one one of these days. I have been telling myself that for over 2 years now and still haven't given up hope.

Ron

You got that right !

There is no way I'm going the risk crashing for some sinking small animal in the road.
They will be in my pot of road kill stew.

Glad your daughter and yourself are okay.

Glad to see that you and your daughter walked away unhurt.

You should think about claiming it on your insurance. Your policy will certainly go up, but you would still be able to find insurance in the future.

Had a similar thing happen yesterday only it was a cyclist! Came around a corner on a back woods road and they were riding four across, one in the middle of my lane. I downshifted and slowed to give him time to move, but there was no way I was going off road into the trees to avoid him!

Bugman - wow!! Thank God you and your daughter were not hurt. That's what really matters. Too bad about the beautiful Unique, but once you tear it down, hopefully you may find more of it is salvageable than initially appears. Good luck and keep us posted.

Glad you and your daughter walked away from this. How is she now that all has sunk in, does she have a little fear of cars you can help her with? My 11 year old at the time was shook up by a crash and we did not realize it at first. She denied any affects but was jumpy at the sound of screaming brakes or horns for months. That was years ago now and she is fine but keep on eye on your baby.

Sorry to hear about your car, but as posted above, glad to hear that you and your daughter are OK, which is really the bottom line.

Red face It's not that bad

Bugman I am so gald you and your daughter where not hurt. Safety belts save lives. How bad is the frame?? Bring the car home and strip it down to the frame. You will then have a good idea about what can be saved. Looks like the windshield is OK. 2 front fenders, hood, rad, cooler, and front parts for the suspension. Start hunting on the internet for parts, little at a time. Call Uniques and get prices on the front end parts. The frame is the big thing. You are not the first cobra to be in an accident call around. Suggestion in the future, anything in size from dog down that will not go over hood of car, HIT. Anything like Deer, Horse, MOOSE, or bigger, you will do what ever to avoid again. It's those squirrels on that tire commerical with the standing in the road thing. They are telling all there friends to do the same thing, and you will not hit them. I think it's either add a cow catcher to the front end or Jamesbond the car with lazer optic and 30 cal mini guns. Sorry again about the car. Some of the guys here may have spare parts?? Rick L.

Great driving if you ask me. Yours and your daughters life is worth more than all the cobras in the world, real or replica.

I say well done! The car can be replaced.

First and formost, glad to hear that you and your daughter are fine. That is the most important thing in this situation.

And I have to agree with Rick. If it will come over the hood, you need to avoid hitting it if at all possible. Other than that, under the car it goes. These were words of advice my daughter received from a State Patrol officer when she had her first accident.
