I finally saw the Fidelity "Cobra" Ad Tonight
It was during the NBC Nightly News. This middle age guy is consulting with his Fidelity financial advisor and the magic green carpet to retirement security rolls out in front of him. "Just follow the path" she tells him, and he starts walking down the line only to be distracted by a beautiful burgundy Cobra in a showroom window. "Stay on the path" the advisor calls out, and he smiles at her, looks once more at the window and then walks on past the Cobra.
Ahh, what frivolous folly these Cobras be.

somebody needs to post the clip, I never get to see it. Guy should have told the fidelity advisor DJIA is down 40% year over year? I do not think there is a cobra out there that depreciated that much year over year or for that matter the life of the car!!! If you do what the masses do you are sure to be average or odds are below average.

I saw it and couldn't believe it! Since I still have my car on order at ERA, I didn't want my wife to see it, but she did! Boy did I have to do some quick thinking! (Car's still on order, so I must not have done too badly!)

Yep, you and your wife will be eating cat food for dinner when retired, but you'll at least be able to drive to the market in style.

I usually Tivo the NBC Nightly News, so I just watched it. If you blink, you'll miss it.
Yeah, stay on the "green path" if you want to lose your shirt.
Sometimes you gotta veer of the "green path" and live a little.

I'm glad I spent $45000. on my Cobra, it's still a better investment than my 401K.
Your correct......I do drive to the Soup Kitchen in style.

What the Ad Didn't Show...
The guy makes it to the end of the green pathway... and drops over dead as a doornail. Cut to the scene at the funeral -- his kids are looking down at his casket and one turns to the other and says " You know, it's too bad Pop never got that Cobra he always wanted. C'mon Sis, let's fly to Monaco; all of a sudden I'm feelin' real lucky."

There is a wonderful saying: "If you don't travel first class, your kids will". Invest wisely but don't let life slip by without enjoying it. By the way, Monaco is great this time of year.

I saw a black and white picture in a magazine a few years ago, it showed an older man, quite frail, balancing himself in a walker standing next to a Cobra, peering into the car. It made me think about waiting too long to get what you want in life. Wait too long and you could be dead.

And at the end of your life, when you can look back from the confines of age and immobility. What would you like that life to say?
“My portfolio performed well”
or
”I had a Cobra, I lived with fire and excitement, I savored every moment.”
“I know which line Id be standing in, that long Mother ______r!”

Don't recall that particular reference, but this is PRECISELY why I chose to go for it now and get a Cobra before I'm either too old to drive/appreciate it, or too dead to do either.
Someday I will have to give this car up. At least I'll have the memories. Can't put a price tag on that.

What a pu$$y! I think there is a subliminal message here that men should obey women. The Fidelity chick should have been in dominatrix garb.
Stay on the line!
OK, OK....slinks away.
