Question West Coast Cobra - Help !

Hi Everyone,

I am a newbie so I need some help! I just purchased a WCC in December '08 from a gent in MI.

From what I can tell from all the paper work I received with the car it was built in '84.

I also have the original build manual which is not the best. The illustrations are copies of copies so you really cannot make out anything.

I have tried to contact Vern for quite a while with no luck.

So what I would love to get if it exists is some kind of cross ref list with the oem numbers of the off the shelf parts so I can do some maintance.

Also if any one has a updated build manual '85 to '87 ( I'm guessing here I really have no idea when the major updates to the car happened ) I would gladly pay someone to make me a copy so I am not so in the dark.

Thanks in advance.

I am still building my WC kit but I have some info on what parts are used in this kit. Send me a PM and I will try to help you. My kit is 2004 so I dont know what changed since 1984, depends on what you need.

Cheers

Gererally, I wouldn't say "OEM" for much on a Cobra, you really don't have part #'s . Aside from the chassis and the body, most everything else is aftermarket. Don't worry about a manual, most of them arn't much good for anything.

Sorry! I would like the after market part numbers (steering column, accelerator pedal, brake pedal, rear end, etc) basicly the stuff I don't need Vern for.

Default West Coast Part No's

I have a build manual that came with my West Coast which is a 1991 build.
However, it does not give part numbers you are looking for. Through contacting Vern over the last five years and fixing issues I have learned some general facts. My rack and pinion are from a Mustang II, front brakes are from a 75 Nova, Rear from a SVL Mustang, Steering column (well at least the turn signal switch I had to replace) from a 79 TBird. Brake booster is Cardone # 5474000. Vern admitted he used parts from used vehicles(which is why my turn signal switch was worn out with only 8,000 miles on the car) Donor vehicles was the term I believe. If you really want a copy of the Assembly Manual for 1991 I can make a copy for you. I also have a parts list from West Coast from 1990 which gives all their part no's but nothing that will link them to any source(except Vern). For instance the rear end is part no C1-0010. My car was built by Dan Fiffick of A/C Specialties in Cleveland for a local client.
Hope this helps.

Your best bet is to trash the parts you want to replace and get something that works better and is new. For instance, steering column is an Ididit w/ turn signal. Accelerator pedal, Lokar, etc.. Gas tank.
