Question Correct sidepipe diameter.......?

My sidepipes measure 3 1/2" OD, 3 3/8" ID and have the West Coast restrictive 1 7/8 internal baffle. Replacement baffles are apparently 3 1/2" OD, and replacement mufflers commonly 4". I'll call Eric at Classic Chambered to find out more.

First I don't see how to put a 3 1/2" baffle inside of a 3 3/8 inch ID sidepipe (Is this a Vern Redel special?)

Secondly I hadn't noticed most cobras using 4" mufflers or sidepipes, what's on your cobra?

Thanks,

Dirk

Your pipes are very.... restrictive. Do you have a small or big block ?
I know that for my new side oiler, I will have 2" header primaries, 2" 90 degree pipes to the collector, and a 4" od pipe covering the muffler. There are a few different sizes for mufflers to choose from. 3", 3.5" and one company (forget their name) with a 4". I would at least go with a 3" muffler.

The side pipes I currently have have 2" header primaries, down to 1-3/4" 90 degree pipes to the collector. I can't wait to take mine apart to see what size muffler I have. I've heard from other that theirs were from, 1-7/8", 2". 2.5" and up. I'm sure mine are small. You can gain from what I've seen here on CC, 20 to 100 HP with non-restrictive and larger headers, primaries, collectors and mufflers. Do a search here on CC, there are a lot of discussions on this subject.

Default Power gains

Yep, I took mine apart yesterday Funfer2 and I found 1 7/8" baffle tubes inside That oughtta be good for about 100 lost ponies on my 533 BB.... I'm considering going with the 4" Classic Chambered exhaust, not sure when though, so little time, so many upgrades/problems/challenges facing me lol

lol,....I'm going through the same things. Mt exhaust except for the headers, are too small. My Cobra should be, in a magazine so, I'm buying a KC 482 alum. side oiler and new stainless side pipes. I also, (through my "group buy" have to paint and mount the Good Year Billboards. I'm also ready to bolt down my two post garage lift (myother group buy) and get to work !
It's still pretty chilly here though.
