Default what is it worth?????

I just bought a cobra and wanted to know what it's worth. It got a 427 500hp with a 6 speed trans. Its brand new and hasnt even been titled yet. I will work on getting more details of the components but I can tell its got a Nelson racing engine, Willwood 3 piece crossed drilled rotors and Willwood 6 piston calipers, ford 9" rear end and a nice MSD ignition. I dont know much about these cars other than the one I bought is one crazy car. I've never in my life driven a car with so much power and i've driven plenty of cars. Can anyone give me an idea as to what its worth? If need be I can get more details as to the rest of the components. thanks in advance for the help.

For an accurate/fair estimate, the make of the car(kit) is critical.

California car based on the temp tag? Factory Five? Just a guess, I'm horrible at identifying cars.

Not an FFR, but I can tell him that it's worth what he paid for it. Or at least i hope so.

Make, more about the engine and transmission combination. Better pictures of the car, dash, interior, etc. Also, since it is not titled, you did get a MCO (Manufacturers Certificate of Origin) right? That will have the manufacturers name on it.

As for the picture, with the exposed rollbar, I do not believe it is a FFR. Perhaps a Classic Roadster? Tough to tell just based on one generic side shot.

At this time I dont have more information as I am picking up the paperwork for the car which includes every detail of the car. I will post this as soon as i get back to my computer along with more and better pictures. Also, how would I go about registering it in California without having to worry about the smog issue? thanks to all for the help.

vcci - I guess the big question is, why would you buy a car when you don't really know what it's worth on the open market?

Wheels, windshield, hood, sidepipes....I can go on.
Agree with Got The Bug's post above. Must be nice to be able to do that. Alot of us have our hearts, souls, and marriages into getting one. As for value, I will leave that to someone else...

Unfortunately, there's no easy way around the smog issue in California. You'll need to go through the SB100 process (500 certs issued each year on January 2). It has a temp sticker, so someone has visited the DMV. Just make sure they didn't register it as a 1965 Cobra.

Someone has started Calif DMV paperwork on it, based on the windshield temp sticker. Where are you currently located? And, do you intend on following through with Calif registration?

It also, from the pic, looks to have a massive scoop.

i've always wanted a cobra but i actually wanted to build my own rather than buying one that was already built. I bought it because it was part of a package deal i made consisting of 7 classics. Chances are i will hang on to it for a little while and then sell it along with the rest of them at which point I am planning on building my own. I'm not sure what I have to do to register the car but I would like to do whatever is right. If i'm not supposed to register it as a 1965 cobra what am I supposed to register it as??? If I told you guys that I paid in the low 40's for the car would you say I got a good, great or teriible deal? thanks again for everyones help on this.

Without knowing all of the details of the car, especially the manufacturer, this would be impossible to answer.

Here's a good thread regarding the SB100 registration process.

SB100 newbie question

In California, the car would be registered as a Special Construction Vehicle:

ok so I got all the paperwork for the car and this is what I can tell you. it is a Classic Roadster kit with a 460ci 600hp motor built by Nelson Racing Engines out of Chatsworth CA. It has a Ford 9" with 3.70 ratio, 31 spline, true track. Its got so many things I wouldnt know where to start but i'm thinking with the information I posted some of you if not all of you will be able to give me a better figure as to what its worth. Now that i have all the information it makes complete sense why the car is so frikin fast, 600hp and you can feel every single one. Its sick. anyway thanks for your help fellas and looking forward to hearing what its worth. I'll post more pics at a later time.
