AC to launch new AC MkVI in Monaco ?
From the Auto Blog web site:
" AC to launch new AC MkVI in Monaco. The UK’s oldest car marque has announced that it is building its new AC MkVI in Germany.
The AC MkVI will be launched at the Top Marques car show in Monaco on April 16. The AC MkVI, a faithful recreation of the ultimate sports car icon - the AC Cobra, is now being produced in Germany for sale in Europe. AC has entered into a long term strategic alliance with Gullwing GmbH in Heyda, Germany. The AC MkVI is being produced in a modern facility and AC is extremely proud of the quality of the finished product which is due to the skills of the craftsmen at the Heyda facility.
AC’s Chairman Alan Lubinsky summarised the main specification of the new AC MkVI: "

Ohhh, a gullwing hardtop?!?!
I wonder if all they have is some computer generated images to launch the new model.
What ever happened with the US and English AC cars that Lubinsky announced after disappearing from Malta?
Where is Trevor when you need him?

The web site mentions the " Top Marques Monaco " car show including the " smart AC Cobra "
From the web site:
" Tears flowed from the heavens as they looked down on the splendid array of fascinating cars gathered in the Top Marques Pit of the Grimaldi Forum. Before members of the media and press on the French Riviera, CEO & Founder, Lawrie Lewis gave them an overview whats to come in April. The only live supercar show in the world will present the public with the top of the top of prestigious cars, luxury products and services.
In its 6th year, Top Marques Monaco confirms its position as the "must" car show for aficionados of the most beautiful and powerful cars on the planet, the haute couture of the automobile industry. The cars that travelled down on display were: the eco girl Lexus LS 600h; the powerful KTM X-Bow; the fabulous Lazareth Wazuma; the smart AC Cobra; the sleek Lamborghini LP 560; and the beautiful Bentley Continental GTC. All eyes will be on Monaco April 16-19, 2009 to see the world premiers, the supermodels and bad boys on the track, and much more! "

Hmm, instead of "smart", let's see "sleek" or "eco girl". No. Perhaps "neadarthal". Well in this case, I think "vaporware", "facade" or "imaginary" seem appropriate.

A Corvette motor?
Is that "smart" with a capital S or a small s? What makes an AC "smart?"
What is CSI's position on this new venture?
What happens if some of these cars find their way into the States?

Well a couple of MK V cars managed to find their way over to the US. I remember them showing up on eBay a few times. I don't recall them ever being sold.
Perhaps a proud owner of a MK V could speak up to let us know if CSI even noticed them as a blip on the lawsuit radar.
I suspect the MK VI cars will be just as popular if a couple manage to actually materialize before Alan disappears from Germany.

They mention only a European dealer network. I don't see any way these could ever be sold in the US. Since it is a complete, running car with engine and trans installed, it would have to meet all US requirements for new cars. I can't see any way it could be made to pass bumper regs, passive safety, crash tests, or any of about 50 other requirements for new cars sold in the US.

Well, wouldn't you think that Shelby would already be suing AC for not failing to deliver CSX1000 cars? Why bother suing Alan more when his projects just seem to self destruct on their own.

Something about a 10ft pole.
there are some rules in the EU where you can produce a few cars a year and not have to meet all the EU saftey === that is how tesla is selling their cars currently in the EU.
with all the junk related to the unique-motorcars elenor problem and all the money they dispersed with,--ugh...
Question: why the heck hasnt someone taken the AC name back from them.....>?
I think this will open up the settlement from CS vs. AC.

Did anyone actually suggest such a thing??? I think the only suggestion was that it looks like a DAX!!!
On their website, Gullwing mention that, quote:" ...The rear axle is a combination of the well proven Cobra axle, which we integrate since a long time in our special Cobra, which we have built in more than 200 units..."
But there is no other information on their site (or the `net that I have found yet) about their special Cobra, which, allowing for translation, of which there could be over 200.
It would be very interesting to know whether there is simply a 'licensed manufacture' type of agreement wheereby the Gullwing 'Cobra' is now badged as an 'AC GT' or 'GTS', or has this company tooled up to AC`s spec, in which case things like the external boot (sorry...trunk) hinges wouldn`t be there if history is anything to go by.
Certainly Dave Brookes, a specialist(Dax & occasional Kirkham) Replica builder can identify parts of his own design in the hardtop renderings, but as he has not sold any to 'third parties', could this explain why no hardtop is on display in Monaco?

I'm not sure what's happening at AC Autokraft in the US, but AC Heritage at Brooklands, UK will build you a new aluminium AC:

The GTSpirit.com web site mentions:
" The retro design consists of a lightweight removable hardtop with gullwing doors. "
