I remember being probably around 6-7 years old and pulling old bushes out of the ground with a full size Kubota tractor. The clutch was so stiff that my whole body was straightened out and spasming trying to hold it in.

I grew up on a horse farm, so I was always driving something around somewhere on the farm.

Dad had a nice '87 Dodge Conquest that I used to drive around the yard when he asked me to wash it.

I took my driver's test in Mom's 1992 VW Jetta turbo diesel with a 5-speed. I guess that's what I drove around for awhile until Dad bought me a 1986 Fiero GT. That was my first car.

I managed to get to drive a buddy's "field car" a few times which I think was a '53 Chevy but the first car I really drove was my father's 1962 Dodge, slant 6, push button automatic. My first car was a 1956 Ford Victoria 2 door hardtop.

I learned to drive in a 1972 Chevy Nova 350 - my mothers car. My father wouldn't ride with ANYONE at the time so he wouldn't teach us to drive.

I learned to drive a stick shift in a 1958 VW Beetle. My friend took me to an abandoned airfield and we went up and down the runway numerous times while I was learning to take off in first gear.

The car I learned to drive with was a four door '53 Chevy Bel-Air with fender skirts and factory sun visor. I had to share it with my older sister until I got my own ride... a '37 Chevy panel truck. And of course since I was a kid, I painted "U.S Male" on the sides. Good Times.

1950 Rambler station wagon. Looked like an upside down bathtub. It had a 3 speed manual with overdrive.

'67 Camaro, 327 2bbl. with a Powerglide. I can't tell you how many Powerglides I had to swap into that thing, I burned them out with amazing regularity. In the end I could have one in and out, complete, in about 3 hours. Not bad for a 17 year old kid laying on his back, working alone.....practice makes perfect! I still miss that car and the times I had in it.

Learnt in a 1946 Willys Jeep at age 11 driving in the sand dunes of the then Cape Flats - now Mitchell's Plain and Kayalitsha. My parents would be fishing and my Dad would throw me the keys and say "Have Fun" - I did

Never realised how Cool he was until he wasn't here anymore

1955 Ford T-Bird. My first car...I was the second owner. Whata rush back in 1962. Wish I still had it. My dad sold it after he replaced the 3rd trans. I was tough on transmissions.

I was reading through this and hoping it said "what vehicle did you learn to drive". The first automobile was my grandfathers 1955 Red GM Pickup truck (a tank).

The first vehicle I ever drove (alone at the age of 6) was a 1962 Ford 8N tractor.
