I'm slow posting pictures because I have to delete some to make room for new ones.
The first time we looked at this car we thought it was a steel car. Then I read the place card and saw it was fiberglass. When you look "real close" you can see the detail in the paint job. I think it took longer to paint this rust paint job than a slick paint job. LOTs of detail in the rust affect.

Dwight,
That is fantastic! I can't imagine how they got that effect. Thanks for posting.

Dwight, isn't it amazing what these guys can do with paint? Some of them are real artists.
Here are a couple more from the Syracuse Nationals that are also not exactly what they appear to be:

I love the rat rod look, and you are right, it takes a lot longer to do one right than a glossy paint job.

Those are great pictures and some great work on the cars. I took a couple of a Fiberglass old looking rod at the local show and shine a week or so ago and need to get them sorted. I thought it was steel until I looked close and talked to the owner.

I saw a pick-up rat rod last week that looked like a old farm truck that had the paint scraped badly from running through the woods. On closer inspection it was a paint job. I wish I'd brought my camera. The painter was an artist.
