Thanks for the proofread on my Web site, I'll make the update.

Jay,

Even if you offered an opinion, I'd be cool with that. You don't just pop into CC when it suits you or when you can promote the BDR brand...you stop by to help and offer advice. I would encourage any manufacturer to post on CC and offer their opinions. In the end, it's a net gain for anyone trying to figure out which manufacturer to go with.

In fact, if I was in any business that supports the hobby (engine builder, installer, repair shop, painter, etc.), I'd get involved so people would know me and know something about the products and services offered (and reputation).

JMHFO, but you know what would be nice? Just for once to have one of these threads comparing manufacturers not deteriorate into a bashing contest about why the other brand(s) is/are not good, rather than the good points of each being presented.

Then again this thread has actually been pretty tame compared to some here in the past, so I guess that we should be grateful for that at least.

Definitely an SPF. I have had one for 10 years now and never regretted it. No cracks, fractures or spider cracks. The fit and finish is flawless. The paint is flawless and does not fade. Another reason is that the SPF is a more complete car. Just compare the two in the wheel wells. The SPF has enclosed wheel wells. The BDR does not, it's open to the rear. If you want a Cobra that looks like the original Carroll Shelby Cobra, SPF is the answer. The BDR interior is not authentic by any comparison. The lines of the trunk area are not authentic either.

If you're looking for a used SPF, mine is up for sale here on Club Cobra. Give me a call and I'll help you make up your mind. You don't need to buy mine, but it is a good deal. Call me if you wish to discuss, I'll try to help.

I appreciate all of Jay's input here. I also appreciated Gordon Levy's input before I bought my FFR and re did it to my specifications.

Just because they are vendors doesn't mean their info isn't valuable. I have heard from a BDR dealer who defends his product fiercely.

Still haven't heard from any SPF dealer about why theirs is better. Maybe I have, but I don't remember it.

Jay has my business if I decide to go in that direction. If he is willing to give up alot of his time in order to help others AND promote his product, he must be a go-to guy (haven't heard anything to the contrary about his operation from anyone on this forum) The deciding factor for me will be how I feel in the driver's seat in either car. Everything else I can deal with. But, for me, the driving position is very important.

My FFR fits me like a glove. That's what I want in my next car too.

And, because there is no BDR dealer less than 600 miles away from me, I will choose the one that will set it up right from the get go. No do-overs if I get a BDR. Minor things I can fix myself. Major flaws will require shipping the car.

So, all things considered, I need to park my butt in both of them and see which one fits best. The money will be about even if I outfit the BDR the same as the SPF, so that won't be the deciding factor.

If the FFR fits you like a glove and that's the most important criteria in choosing a car, why change? Just stay with the FFR. Why mess with success? I'm trying to be objective here and support your decision making process.

A healthy discussion of the good and bad points of each manufacturer seems A OK to me. It's an inherent trait of this type of thread.

Also, I agree with Doug (Got The Bug). As far as I'm concerned, clarifications of one's product are welcome as are opinions. He seems like a gentleman to me.

Just kidding FFR owners (of which I am one).
Pretty hard to do that though if your frame is built out of 2

Because I want to upgrade my current engine to a 408/427 for more power. To do that with my current car, I would have to upgrade the following systems:
Cooling, fuel delivery, brakes, engine and transmission. Total outlay, about $20,000 and I would still have a car worth about $35k.

If you're going to go for more power like that, then don't stop at a 427; go for a 460 SVO Crate Engine. HP per dollar is the best deal around. It's about 1/2 to 1/3 the price of a Rousch and the power is there. In fact, take a look at mine. You might just want to buy it. It's in absolutely primo shape and has lots of upgrades. Ready for you to rock and roll and you get a finished product. Just a suggestion.

Well, you guys won out.

Ordered new SPF last Friday. Rousch 427 SR/TW polished to go in it.

Thanks for helping me decide.

Now, how do you make the time fly till it's ready to drive.

My FFR goes on the market today and I've already been told by their Forum that I have to return the secret decoder ring and lose the club handshake.

I think they kicked me out!
