shipping from US to Canada
Hi all...maybe a dumb question but if I buy a windshield from Florida (finishline parts) will I have any kind of issue with getting it shipped up here to Canada? Heard of nitemares with shipping stuff sometimes?

Hi Scufty
The only problem I have found getting things from states is the huge ripp off UPS charges called brokerage fees as well as a couple other B.S fees. I can't remember what the % is but alway's add's a lot on to final bill.

You are reatively close to the border so you should get it shipped to one of the many businesses that will receive packages and mail just inside the US border. Drive down, pick it up, and bring it back yourself. You will have to declare the item(s), then pay the tax plus a relatively small duty. I did this when I was restoring my '66 Mustang.
As 10 said, getting parts shipped directly to your home from the US will result in some significant additional charges.

Did you try D&D up in Canada to see if the windshield he uses is standard and will fit your car?

My advice is to not screw around with Customs. You may get away with it or you may end up with a mess on your hands.

FWIW,
I ordered a couple of things from Cobra Restorers that were supposed to be exactly what I needed, but when they showed up they weren't and they were not returnable. There are many similar experiences with Cobra Restorers documented in the CC archives that you may want to check out before ordering.
