Kind of an Interesting Dilemma
For teams that stay within budget, FIA will allow them some allowances that those teams who exceed the budget will not get.
Kind of big $ against little $.
In the current worldwide economic climate though, not sure how many folks, even if they are F1 fans, really are in the mood to pander to Ferrari or Renault (and likely Honda in the next week or so).

Ferrari and Toyota are crying because they will not be able to outspend their competitors anymore. Let them take their money to Tony George's place.
Toyota was never successful in F1 and probably was going to leave anyway. They ruined IMSA GTP racing in the nineties and are currently on track to destroy NASCAR.

He'll just keep all the races in Asia and the middle east.

Sounds like the 1 set of tires per race fiasco. Maybe they are just tired of pandering to that a$$h*le Eclestone. I sure hope so .

Being a huge motorsports fan I have always looked at F1 as being the pinnacle of international motorsports. With that being said, I think they should not be limited with budgets. Let them spend as much as they want, they are the "big boys" of open wheel racing. If you cannot play on that level, then you need to go elsewhere.
F1 has always been over the top and full of drama......why stop now!

No Argument...
but this could lead to a very small field...Ferrari, Renault, BMW and Toyota. Unless the economy gets better soon, one could speculate that the field could even get narrower....
Not sure how many people would pay to see that....

Good point, but they always seem to find some gabillionaire that has more money than sense who is looking to buy his way into a major sporting market for the face time they get on camera.

Just my opinion but the placing of budget restrictions on F1 teams is nonsense. Let the teams build cars with what ever money they want to spend.
Too many rules and you know what you end up with... NASCAR!

Neither will leave - it's all part of the silly little dance they are performing with the swivel-eyed lunatics who now have total control the The Company (formerly a sport known as Grand Prix racing - R.I.P.)

Would that be delivered by a broom handle where the sun doesn't shine?
I was never a big Bernie fan, but my indifference turned to total disgust when he pulled the plug on the Canadian Grand Prix because he wasn't making as much money as could could make in a desert somewhere in the Middle East. Of course there is practically no one in the grand stands over there but he couldn't care less as he gets lots of $$$$$$$$.

It speaks volumes when kindly Uncle Bernie ships his priceless GP car collection to a so-called race track in the middle of a desert, where nobody knows what the hell he's got, rather than support the true fans back home in europe and the USA who would give a lot to see such cars. He'd rather cancel the British, Canadian and French GPs just to prove he can, thereby demonstrating his Ultimate Power.
F1 has never been about racing anyway, at least for the past couple of decades. Follow the money, always follow the money....

Good one!!
Given Rubens past, I'm sure he already knew that. What did they say in the commentary, something like "he's a perfect teammate." Maybe that's code for "wingman."

Screw that Hobbit. Ferrari, Toyota, and Renault are more than welcome in P1 American Le Mans.
