I have a cord that loops around the rollbar and clips to the back of the hat.

I have visions of pulling up to a group of people gawking at me and my car, swinging the door open and getting up out of the car, and when halfway up, the cord between my hat and the rollbar reaches its limit. I think the picture in your head right now sums it up....

I tried using the chin strap on my Aussie hat and the hat stayed on, but the brim beat the hell out of me. I was afraid it was going to knock my shades loose and they'd fly away in the breeze. Now I just drive real slow on city streets. Rich

Rich - same experience here with the Aussie hat - great for driving 40 or
less but will slap you silly at 60 - I just don't wear it if I am going to be
at any higher than 40 speed, which means it only gets worn when I am
walking.

Below 50mph = no issues
Above 50mph = I just spin the cap around backwards...problem solved.

I've lost two hats already. I have prescription glasses and need the bill to help keep the sun out of my eyes. I'm going to get some of the clips. They'll work.

And the number one reason to wear your hat while you're in your Cobra: keep the sun off your forehead (if it is anything like mine). If my dermatologist saw me in the beast without my hat (and sun screen), he would kick my ass! Rich

For a baseball cap, put it on backwards and lowering the visor has worked for me.

Default Capsurz Windproofs Your Cap!

Those clips are passive...they only keep your baseball cap attached to your shirt.
They do not guarantee your dermatologist's pleasure at seeing your cap remain on your head.
(And where's the sun protection if your cap is turned backward?)

I found Capsurz ( www.capsurz.com ) , a patented product that is guaranteed to keep your cap on. According to the testimonials convertible drivers, anglers, bikers, boaters and other folks who encounter windy situations swear by them.

I like that they're functional and look good on the brim of your cap. Another nice thing about Capsurz is that your hair doesn't get caught in them (they are not alligator clips like the ones previously mentioned); you don't even feel them. Capsurz do what they say: they windproof your cap.

I'm tempted to try one of these, even though they're only tested to 65 MPH. Rich

Default Capsurz keep your cap on your head

Check out the testimonials page. A guy on a motorcycle tested them at 75 mph and said the Capsurz work great. My Capsurz always keeps my baseball cap on!

Rich, if you are serious about a hat and not interested in all the BS that has been presented here so far I have the hat for you. In two Cobras now, I have over 80,000 miles , driving in wind, rain, hail, snow, dust storms, etc. The very best hat is one found at a sporting goods store named "Big 5" They are here in Tucson and Phoenix, I don't know about other areas. The hat is made for hikers, it has a longer than normal brim, also the brim is wider than normal, it goes from ear to ear, unlike the normal baseball hat. There is a chin strap that is located on the hat brim just in front of the ear. This location is excellent because it holds the hat on at all times, I have driven at 110 mph + while wearing the hat and it just stays put. For me here in the southwest, it is important to have some protection for the ears from the sun. The hat includes a shroud which velcros to the hat in the back and on both sides. Currently I am on my 4th hat because of my persperation which causes stains on the sweat band. The dishwasher can only wash it so many times. Ask anyone who saw me at the FFR Open House or the LCS this year and they surely saw the hat laying on my shifter. The shroud is a wonderful item because it can be removed in about three seconds and reinstalled in about ten seconds. It covers the ears, back of the neck and the side of your face. My cheeks, nose, lips, and chin are the only expose things. It also provides some sound deadening. The only color that it comes in is a light tan. The cost has remained the same for the last six years, $14.95. If you would like to try one I'll be glad to buy one and send it to you, if you don't like it send it back to me, if you like it, then send me the cost. John Ph.# 520-825-9197
