Anybody have a decent cure for the baseball hat being blown off?
I have always had a problem with the baseball hat trying to blow away at highway speed. Has someone found an appropriate cure like a drawstring like a cowboy hat?

Two roach---uh, I mean, alligator clips with a short leather strap. Hook one to the hat, and one to your collar.
I read on here some time back about a guy who was passing a car while in his Cobra, and his hat started to fly off. He made a grab for it, veered off the road, over-corrected... I think he was okay, but the Cobra was a mess.
Don't do that.
Part of the wind buffeting you is curling backwards over your windshield and hitting you from behind. A backwards cap will get blown up and off from this reverse flow.

Have you tried a stapler ? Just kidding. I read here somewhere that if you install a piece of plexiglass on your rollbar it will reduce wind swirl. Havn't tried it myself yet but sounds good.

What I have done: With a generous finger full of clear silicone, wipe the inside of the brow of the hat. Let it dry. After it is dry, the silicone will provide the hat some grip at your forehead, and will resist a blow-off. Try it on a disposable cap first, not your favorite.

I never had a problem with the hat on backward.
You can also try adjusting your windwings and visors as they will change the air pattern around your head... I experimented on a long highway drive going a mile or so between adjustments.

I glued a strip of Velcro to my bald head and that pretty much took care of the problem. I do have to wear a hat all the time now or I get funny looks from people.

Shorter hair - if you have longer hair, the hair in the back just slips up and off goes the hat. When I shortened my hair, the cap stayed on much easier
Deeper cap - Many caps go cheap on the material and are somewhat shallow. The back of the cap ends up on the upper curve of the head and it can't grab onto anything. Sort of like a fat guy trying to keep pants on with no hips. I buy plain caps in various colors at K-Mart. They are nice deep caps that sit lower on the back of the head and stay there.
Forget the cap - Buy some motorcycle sunglasses. They come with a removeable foam gasket that blocks the sun in the gap between the rim of the glasses and your head. Plus they keep the wind out. Nice.

I've found it depends on the type of hat. Some stay on better then others. If you want to a strap, go to your local hardware store, buy a pack of roach clips and some black leather shoe laces and make your own.

I've managed to lose only one baseball cap in five years. Placing the hat on backwards helps, but it isn't a guarantee it'll stay there.
For us follicly challenged drivers  , a hat is a must on sunny days so placing it behind the seat isn't an option.

Buy a really nice Flexfit small/Medium from us and all the above. Honestly I have medium length hair and with the Flexfit I really don't have a problem unless I am cruising over 100 mph in which case I wear another of our Caps with an adjustable strap and that tends to stay on. Check them out......

I used the same as Roscoe has in his picture but got mine at a Marine place. They are made with wide clips for fishermen to keep their caps on and I had mine blow off twice but it kept it on my back until I had time to put it back on. One clip on the back of the cap and the other to the collar of my shirt.
