Hey man, I really appreciate that. No harm done, but it takes a big man to step up among the crowd and show yourself. If you were the only one that ever came across as a snub, I wouldn't have even mentioned it.
Hope the bad news you received turned out OK. I'm sure I'll see you again and we'll have something funny to start our conversation with .

Maybe it is the area your in. I have only had one person get snooty with me.

It was a little old lady in her 80's. She kind of reminded me of the sassy old lady in "The Outlaw Josie Wales" (hope I didn't butcher the spelling too much). She complained it was too loud and race cars didn't belong on the streets. Then she told my wife that she should go out and spend as much money as I did on the car, for something she wanted. Her husband looked the car over with an appreciative wink (when she wasn't looking of course). Their car did have out of state license plates.

My wife said she felt sorry for the old fellow married to her.

The JBL is supposed to look odd.

Thanks for noticing.

It is not a replica but rather an interpretation of a 50's body design wrapped around a 90's chassis.

In other words just a bit of fun...

Wow! when this post first started i thought it would go no where. I can not understand the petty bikkering. building hot rods, replicas should be fun. In looking for awards in a show is different, there should some competitive, albiet, friendly, joking.
I was able finacially to be able to purchase a 56 f100 hot rod truck. No one ever snubbed be because i was able to buy it. but this is the west, phoenix.
I may not care for a particlar brand but I always respect the form, the appreciation and the friendship.
We all love the car, appreciate the differences. GAUD I sound like a democrate.

Only real snubbing I got was from a Prius driver.. Complained my car was an environmental disaster. Left that phucker at the light sitting in a cloud of tire smoke and exhaust fumes.

Saw him a couple times a week. Used to see him regularly on the way home from work so I would set him up for the tunnel under the freeway and blast him at about 5000 RPM just to piss him off.

You should said "Thank-you for driving that little piece of sh!t and saving all that gas so there is plenty for me to burn in this monster" and then do the giant burn-out.

Try having a Holiday Motorsports Cobra. They do look down on you then and after that---wait for it ----Tell them it has a 396 BB Chevy with a Muncie and yes the eyes start to roll. I bought the car sight unseen and with no info. I was told it was Blue. After i paid for it i didn't see it for 4 months and it was Red so at first i didn't think it was mine, although it was the only one under my father-in-law's garage. O-well i have enough fun with it and the price was good i wouldn't care if it had any paint on it or who made it. I don't care what anyone says when you crank that bad boy up and hit the road It's Great.

Default Remembering being snubbed...

My dad always had & loved Corvettes. We owned a fairly rare '69 big block in the early '80s that must have blown the engine when it was still very new, and it had a ''69 or '70 dated CE block that might have even been replaced under warranty since the car was so new when it lost the original block. It was always looked down apon in the local club because it was not "original" even though it was well know that one of the members with the means to do so had restamped his big block as well as everyone elses in the club that he was friends with. And to top it off, it was the guys with the re-stamped blocks that were the biggest offenders. I was a teenager and I can remember at the meetings and casual shows I'd go to, this would always be brought up by someone in the club, something like "that's a really clean car, too back it's got the wrong block number." Looking back it was only a few bad apples, but that BS tainted my opinion of Corvette owners forever.

The percentage of Corvette snobs is probably the same percentage as snobs in any other car owner group. A snob is a snob no matter what he drives, and takes his snobbery with him when he joins another car group. With that said, I find Cobra replica owners among the nicest and warmest group of automotive enthusiasts I've ever encountered.

Default Probably my fault,...but

I'm very much a rookie with the "car show & cruise in" activities. Have gone to a few shows with friends, followed their lead, and registered. Always confused as to which catagory to select.
I did a weeknight small local church cruise in / car show this week by myself. Wife and friends were busy and thought I meet some new people. So,..I registered, 17 catagories and I still was indecisive about which one to choose. Came down to Best Ford OR Best Unique. I figured I would avoid offending the Ford purists. About 70 cars showed up and I walked aropund to see them all. Realized, at that point, only three "vehicles" chose the Best Unique catagory: Me, a VW (half dune buggy, half pickup), and a kids go cart (that his dad bought, not built).

Now I just want to leave, but I stay and do meet some people to talk cars.
Comes the awards and I'm wishing, "not me, please not me".

The MC prefaces this last award presentation by saying, "The judges don't select the catagories, the owners choose them", and calls my name. I'm thinking, "I should have left, but I can't escape now". It looked like I chose the unique catagory and "stole" the trophy from a 12 year old kid. The kid and the cart already left and I couldn't pass the trophy along to him.

I think I shall never register at a show again. Painfull, rookie mistake!
I think I shall just stick to driving.
