Guy wants $92K for this!
Going out to dinner with my wife and I see this car. I buzz over to the gas station/garage to get a better look. I ask the garage owner,
me - "What is it?"
garage owner - "It's a cobra"
me - "OK, but what kind?"
GO - "It's a real cobra"
me - "Is it aluminum or fg?"
GO - "It's alum."
me - "No, it's fg."
GO - "Well, it's a real one."
etc....
I look under the hood and the shelby footbox plate says: CSX4055.
I thought about explaining, but decided to go have a nice dinner and not stand out in the 95 degree heat. More pics in my gallery. Header bolt was loose. Garage was repairing.

The car was pretty rough. CSX4055...is that an early Vegas car? The bolt was loose on one of the header tubes. The tubes were also wrapped. One of the tubes had a 3" hole from rust.

What happened to the old days when people at least spiffed up their stuff before attempting to sell? He's dreaming for that kind of money.

So is it one of the first 4K cars? It had the aluminum flashing on the panels.

Not in this market. The people who are trying to get top $$$ for their stuff like it is still 2005 are crazy. I can build a new one for about that depending on motor and options.

I like the blue plastic "tonneau" cover. That alone makes it worth $92k.

Yeah, I was going to make a similar observation but backed off. Not to say that a $20 outdoor tarp from Home Cheapo (you know, the one with the grommets on the corners) wouldn't make an absolutely swell car cover for a $92K machine.

Pretty sure I know that car. Older guy and his son take it out. They came to one of the Shelby meets. Very nice guys, but didn't have a CLUE about anything about the car (thought they did though).

No kidding. The wife & I are in the market for a new family vehicle, and just got back from looking at the second car for sale that had not been cleaned inside, or had just been half-a**ed cleaned. Both vehicles we've looked at (Trailblazer and an Escape) were a year old and had less than 20,000 miles on them - a new car to me. But my '96 Jeep Cherokee with 216,000 miles on it had a cleaner interior than either of them!!!
Now, if these had been cut-rate independent dealers or private sellers, I could have cut them a little slack. (Maybe they don't have a detail shop, or it's still the vehicle they have to drive every day, etc.) But these were both at big, name brand, full-service dealerships. They could have at least vacuumed the carpet!

What is that behind the Turkey Pan?
What is behind the Turkey Pan up against the firewall? Is that a mirror or what?

They were replacing a header tube, they must have used the mirror to help see the bolts. Still no answer on when this car was made and where??? Did you see the black tank behind the radiator? It was attached to one of the cross tubes. Never seen one like that. My guess is an overflow tank for the radiator.

The black tank is a pretty standard FE expansion tank.

I think Hi Tech is talking about the canister mounted to the x part of the chassis directly behind the radiator, not the go to standard expansion tank. If we keep talking about this car it will become infamous and the price will go up even higher. Too rich for my blood in any case.
