Here is a shot of my engine bay, and I really, really like my gasket going all the way around it. Really polished, a nice detail and its like a frame for a great picture. One piece that wraps all the way around. This is a "D" gasket with an adhesive back that is the width of the channel that wraps around the hood.
I am spoiled - I live a few miles away from a warehouse who sells every single thing imaginable for car interiros, but you should be able to get something very similar from McMaster-Carr or a local interior guy.
