I did see a nice demo once where an SPF had all 4 wheels off the ground, balanced on a single pivot point and both of the doors opened and closed the same as they would with all 4 wheels solid on the ground. As I recall, the car had a 351W engine (not a BB). It was an impressive demo.

I've actually seen my car levitate all on it's own in my garage. We even changed the oil. Of course we'd had a full liter of Patrone but it was REALLY cool!

My shelby is just as rigid ,I can place the jack so it will teter toter on just one wheel.
On the other hand the shell valley cracks and pops ,you have to open the doors when you jack it up to keep them from jamming and chipping. Tim K

Frame Stiffness
You should be able to put the jack under either main frame tube at the front of the car just behind the front cap and get three wheels off the ground after you have lifted the front wheel on the side that the jack is placed no more than 10" in the air. This is assuming you have a frame that ends about where a Kirkham or original does.

But you are more intelligent and perceptive than most. Oft-times my intent here slips by the reader like a thief in the night.

I love these "Rip Van Winkle" threads that come back to life. Guess Patrick's threads are just ageless.

Sounds to me like were all just a little bit jaded. Ok so most of the Cobras out there can do this, and I remain impressed that mine can as well. But it's not quite as simple as where to place the jack or how high you have to jack it up.
Fact is, the bulk of these frames are dam stiff, the short wheel base helps. I've had plenty (MOST in fact) cars where it was very difficult to get two wheels off the ground in this manner. Oh sure, if you jack it up high enough, I guess. I can tell you with my ERA, I don't have to jack it up very high at all to do it and it really doesn't matter WHERE I put the jack on one side.

It's not how stiff the frame is or where the jack is so much as massive sway bars!
Not always the best outcome for good rear traction under hard cornering!

Now we've all heard horror stories about the rigidity of the original Cobra's frame. Do the new Shelby cars pick the rear wheel up when you jack the front wheel? Or are the continuation frames "wiggly" like the originals?

same thing happens to my cobra when you jack up one of the rear tires, the other rear tire will be off the ground also. rigid!

My Classic 427 does that too. It is rigid.
