What's interesting is I shared this story with my wife and we both agree, the guy was certainly asking for it. But we also give him points for sheer, stupid style =)
We've been married for 4 months now, but we'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary next Feb. Bugs my friends when I say that, but we lived together as a couple for 8 years before I even proposed. We got to know each other, and both of our faults and strengths.
As for the guys who are against having to "ask permission" from the wife on a purchase, let me ask you this. Does your wife have to ask YOU for permission for things? Or is it a you do my thing, you do yours as long as we aren't over-reaching on expenses and the like?
I don't ask my wife when i buy things, she doesn't ask me either. But we keep our finances seperate (*NO* joint accounts).
