I don't think that any of the manufacturers you mentioned delivered cars before 1979, but there are some states that title replicas as the year they represent. Other states title them as the year they are first registered. However, I don't know about Greece specifically, but many other European countries are aware of the "fake dating" situation of replicas. Be careful that you don't get stuck.

Which companies were manufacting Cobra replicas before 1979? I would think it a very small number.

Here's one listed - http://forsale.classicandperformance...ad=13782&d=112
Shell Valley claims on their website to have been producing kits since 1979 - http://www.shellvalley.com/

Don't know a thing about other countries' laws on registration. Missouri registers the car that it most resembles - 1965. HTH

Backdraft have sent several to Europe in the last few years. Jay at Vintage knows what needs to be done to get it done for you.

You are battling two things, year of registration and then length of ownership (to combat excessive VAT). It can all be done though. Drop me an email if interested.

As posted in your other thread:
Which Replica?
Sorry to say, but no matter what a modern day Cobra is titled as, the date of manufacture is what the Greek authorities will be looking at. Since there are very few "kit cobras" dating back to 1979, you are going to have a tough time not paying your fair share of taxes, again no matter which kit you import. I have a client who tried what you are proposing and ended up paying the full tax and import duty, even after three years (yes THREE YEARS) fighting the system in your country.
My advice based on this, buy what you can afford knowing that you will be paying taxes and import duties on them, again, no matter how it is titled in the USA.

Cobra to Greece
Thank you all guys!
I think if it's titled as a 1965 ford or whatever, avoid mentioning the word replica, then everything will be ok.
What about Backdraft compared to Superformance and Factory Five?
I spoke with vintage motorsports they were really nice.I'll visit New York in December.Does anybody know where to search for these three makes??
Thanks again
