nice clear and sharp pics, excellent.
I don't know about those daytona type sidepipes on #97...
Wish I could have been there

Does this mean if your car is not painted Blue you can’t run on this Track?

Thanks, looks like Lynn had two cars there. Nice as 2259 was a question a couple weeks ago.
Great pics!

I think that #59 car is one of the most beautiful Cobra's I have ever seen.
Thanks Brent.

I saw number 65 a blue Superformance, I think, that was going to run. I can't believe they allow "reproductions to run.

There is not a hope that a copycat car can run... In fact if you had a real 427 Cobra that did not have a verified race history you couldn't run that either. The cars at Monterey are all real race cars from the day. No street cars, no fakes, no way... that is part of the coolness

It certainly WASN'T an original. Maybe it was in the padock as "a guest" but the radiator was vertical the body fiberglass and was nestled between real racers. The concours stop in Carmel also had some (2) "re-creations."

The radiator dimensions and placement in a Superformance car are identical to a real Shelby 427 CSX3xxx car. I know this because Harley Cluxton made an exact copy of my radiator screen in SPF136 for fitment to his real 427 comp car.....

I have owned an SPF and two accurate cobras. A Hi Tech and Exact. The rads are NOT vertical on the accurate replicas.......The dimensions may be the same but the placements aren't. Trust me, and as far as I know the originals weren't fiberglass. Have a good day.

Nice pics Brent!
Original 427's don't have verticle radiators. They tilt back towards the engine.

I remember seeing the 289 (Lynn Park's racing out of the Wild West Motorsports stable) with the Daytona type pipes in the early 90's at the Mini Nats when they were originally held at Laguna also. If my memory is right (?) it has a Gurney Weslake headed 289 with 48IDA's. Can anyone else confirm this, anyone take any engine shots??? I believe this car was the subject of a magazine article several years ago; as have many of the 289's that frequent the Monterey Historics.

Love the photos. I don't agree with the vintage associations rules regarding "logbook" race cars only. Too few are left in existence, thus too many qualified builders and drivers are excluded. There should be a group of 'neo' classes for newly built vintage racers including Cobras. If there was, I'd build a racing only FIA Cobra. Glad I grew up racing stock cars, as they're not as exclusive.

Glad you made it to Laguna!
Hey Brent,
Unfortunately I did not go this year for the Historics. It was great to see you were able to make it there. Just curious, I figured you'd be on the lookout to see if there were any GT40s on the track, and if so, how about any Mark IVs, etc?
