Default under coating what did you use

Hello all,

I am in the process of getting my body painted. I would like to know if I should use Lizard Skin or regular under coating.

Is the Lizard skin worth the extra money?

if you are talking about under the wheel wells and areas prone to star cracking I used the spray on bed liner then the wheel well pads on top. So far so good.

Any undercoating that makes a skin is bad on metal as if mositure gets in, it can't escape. I'd use spray on black undercoating under the fibreglass wheel wells (even fibered roofing compound) to absorb rock impacts, and use a lanolyn based undercoating for the floors and frame, stuff like RustCheck, which seeps into the cracks and crevices.

Actually, since I only drive in summer, and on nice days, I didn't undercoat. Besides, if you have an FE, you'll likely have "automatic undercoating".....I do !.....LOL.

If you can dont forget to put somthing on the inside as well, meaning the interior of the car, I used dyno mat everywhere, then another insulater as well on top of that, and it really makes a huge difference.

Under the body, I suggest Plasticote spray in bedliner. 4-10oz cans will do the entire underside of the body as well as your wheel wells and floor boards.

really,

I would thought that the lizard skin with be good for both inside and out.

So then what material can be used for under the carpet for so insulation besides Dynomat ?

I am not sure but I thought Dynomat was for enclosed areas that would better benfit from it's properties
