Default Looking For An Alloy CSX4000? Here Ya Go

Not affiliated, but nice arruminum CSX #4385 for sale in TX:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...SS%3AUS%3A1123

Only 124 miles. It would be nice to describe the car in a little more detail. Also, I like it much better with the Billboards out. Got a $90K bid already!

Maybe, maybe not. Shelby sources most of his alloy stuff from Kirkham but you can't say 100%. OK, so let's say it's Kirkham sourced. Assembled by and to Shelby specs with HIS details on/in the car. The name itself add's value, if not to you, certainly to the public and MOST buyers of things Shelby. Will it hold it's re-sale longer than a Kirkham? A virtual certainty. It's not a Kirmham anymore, if the parts started out that way, it's a Shelby now, and there IS a difference. Good or bad? Well thats up to the individual.

One bid at $90k - reserve not met. Bet the reserve is north of $125k.

One item of caution: The engine is from Southern Automotive. I have heard of a lot of problems with their engines.

Thanks for the heads up. Getting close to my price range but the car dont look clean. I have seen alot of cobras with less than 1K miles and that one looks to have alot more but the add indicates 600 miles. Seats look used, fuel residue on manifold, tires look to be 45 years old. I would guess closer to 8K miles. Even the windwings show marring and as we all know pictures hide alot!! I know this is the kind I will be able to afford but I feel the price with the southern automotive engine should be high $60's at best.

I had the same exact thoughts--she looks a bit rough for less than 1,000 miles. The seller could have at least cleaned the car up a bit before taking pictures (i.e., engine bay, carpet).

Looking at the houses in the background (I live in houston) the car is on par with about what they are worht. Not to say that is a bad thing. I am going to watch but I have learned with ebay it is the last 5 seconds that makes the deal.

High $60's for an aluminum CSX is unrealistic, even in this market. As for Southern Automotive, just to try and balance things out, if I remember correctly, they do have their fans too.

RodKnock, do you mean to say high $60's is unrealistic for a CSX because that price is to LOW?

I think high $60's would be cheap for a CSX, (even if it too had dirty carpet and engine)!

For a Kirkham, thats a nice price, perhaps a bit on the low side even, but not unheard of these days. While Southern Automotive may not enjoy the best repuation around I wouldn't discount the motor "that much". It's not like ALL their work is bad, I'm sure some of it (most?) is reasonable and good. If not, they wouldn't be in business.

By the way, that SURE looks like a High Riser dual four intake on the Kirkham car, interesting. I wonder what heads they used to match the ports, if it is a High Rise. Blue Thunder intake on Ebrock heads, I'll have to look into that a little deeper.

Yea, kinda sounds like me.

Ex, I feel that an aluminum CSX for high $60's is WAY too cheap. Flip (HI Cobra) purchased a Kirkham from eBay for about $68K and that as far as I know was the cheapest complete Kirkham ever purchased. If I see another Kirkham or an aluminum CSX for high $60's I will personally beg & borrow (no stealing) the money to purchase THAT car. Although, I personally have a preference for the Kirkham cars, but that wouldn't matter if a CSX for that price presented itself.

Whatever ails a Southern Automotive engine, assuming there is something wrong with it, can almost always be fixed at a reasonable cost.

... and the other one had to have its cam pulled after 1500 miles? OK, both appear to be beautiful cars, but wasn't it RodKnock who wrote yesterday the following brilliant and insightful statement:
