Club Cranky at Elkhart Lake
Do any of you racers out there know of an event at Elkhart Lake that is Cobra friendly and is at least a three day event? It is a long haul from NJ for just a two day event. Must be open track or similar, not a show.
Thanks,
Cranky
Update.
OK, So we put the Northwoods Cobra event on the schedule for next year. Cranky has already joined the club $15.00 so I can sign up. If any of you Racers are planning on going you will have to Join Northwoods.
Check out their site www.nwshelbyclub.com
JM says,"this is gonna be the biggest and best Club Cranky event ever"
BTW have had E-Mail from guys as far away as AZ saying that they are going also some big names from middle America will be going. Maybe as JM suggests this could be the Racers version of a Spring Fling.
If you are planning on going and are interested in the Club Cranky festivities just let JM or Cranky know so we can make the plans.
Thanks,
Cranky

That Northwoods Cobra club event looks like it may be a perfect fit for next year. We will check it out and perhaps put it on the schedule.
Thanks for the input.

I'll be there if you are! Also check out the ferry that takes you across Lake Michigan from Ludington. I think it drops you about 1/2 hour from the track. Might be fun.

Club Cranky invades Road America
Scott, I spoke with John McMahon this morning about Elkhart Lake and it looks doable for next year. We will try to round up all the local members of Club Cranky for a caravan out there .
Are you guys interested? I think this could be a great event for the East Coast contingent.
Look forward to meeting you Scott and any other CC racers.

Hey Bruce....
...you bring some more of them ribs too and we'll even let you sleep with Cranky.
Sounds like a great event. I suspect in the next 2 to 3 weeks, Cranky and da boys may be slobbering around in my garage helping me complete my 289 FIA.
Looks like I'm gonna have to flip a coin as to which car I race where next year.
Did I mention I loved dem ribs Bruce???? Do ya cook Snausage jes' as good?
Cranky,
Hank is interested too.

Cranky, Greg Lapionte, nelson Garrison, Gordon Levy and I will all plan on going. The last 2 years they ran open track sessions on friday and sunday with 5 different run groups. On saturday, they run one open track session and then 4 time trials per car the rest of the day. The time trial was a cold everything dead stop start, go 200 feet cross the starting line and your time begins. An hour later, same thing. Next year, they are going to use transponders, so that you get 4 laps on the fly. That way, you get a chance to warm the car and driver up a little. I for one, am more comfortable with the 4 to 5 laps in a row concept as my car takes a lap at RA to get warmed up. scott

Thats the same weekend as the SVRA Zippo Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. Otherwise I would have loved to go out there. Might go to the Redman Classic in the Early Summer instead.

Elkhart Lake info
Scott,
a few questions.
Do they have a muffler rule? if so we no go.
Do they allow cooking in the paddock area? ( requirement for Club Cranky)
Best Hotel/Motel that is racer friendly.
About how much for three day open track$$$
Thanks
Cranky
One more question.
Do they allow Mustangs to run?

Hey guys. Of course it sounds like fun. Especially the East/West challenge possibilities. (You didn't expect me to miss the chance to start another conflict, did you?) But some of the left coasters come with some impressive credentials, so maybe I should shut up. Naaah, if you get beat, it might as well be by friends. Could this be the racers DVSF?
No promises of course, but I sure would like add that track to my list of "places I've been and didn't break/crash bad."

cranky, the db noise limit is 108, so open pipes are out. Plenty of nice people/hotels in the area. Yes, cooking in the garage area and drinking(after racing of course) is allowed. Cost is 125.00 a day. What is this small block, big block challenge thing? RA has 3 big straights so its definately favors the faster big blocks, no back to back corners. But, I'm in. scott

Noise limit sucks
Scott,
I guess I can put my street pipes on but it sure takes some of the fun out of it. I sort of look forwards to my ears ringing for two days after an open pipes event. We still got the Glen for open pipes and that will only be a month after Elkhart Lake.
Will have to check with the rest of the gang to see how they feel about running in street trim.
Everthing else sounds good.

If they had a 108 db rule they were not enforcing it. Went there to watch this year. Live 45 minutes from the track. First time ever been there. Great place, will go next year. Had alot of pictures on clubphoto from the race but they got deleted.Jim

Mufflers? no problem. Got to figure a route around Chi-town, the traffic around there is horrendous,'specialy with a dozen car haulers. This event is a good ways off, but don't hurt to lay some ground work.We need good cheap hotel, that'll let us try to set the place on fire.Close to track.Clutch plates for FEZ.Booze.Musical group(BluesBros.?)Menu?
