I have to say Evan is not what he was "CRANK"ed up to be....
Waay too sweet and innocent. Nice young man who would make any parent proud to him as a son.
I for one, don't see what all the fuss was about. It must be the others!

You are right you do ... er .... did have a better hat but as of this moment Pat, Turk and Jamo are retrofitting theirs with gold tassels. Thanks for pointing out the design flaw in the hats! By-the-way, I found an early original in a barn, covered with boxes! I'm not sure if I should add the tassel or restore it faithfully, as originally shipped. Your thoughts?

Fez--you know you're really a Gashole lurking under a cranky exterior. BTW, your hat doesn't have the aroma ours does--sortof announces our presence before we're even there.
Even got a name picked out for you: "Cranky Gashole"

Turk
I have to agree with you about Evan--I expected an ego-driven perfectionist devoid of personality and lacking of any ability to give himself over to emotion.
When he hugged and thanked you repeatedly for the amp meter--that was emotional.

Pete C. As has been discussed several times previously and heatedly, before I will respond further, what is the Serial #?
Jamo. How do you know what it smells like? Those farmboys in Virginny seemed to get a little worked up when I wore it to the Superformance meet in May
"When he hugged and thanked you repeatedly..." Just the type of response you might expect of someone like him. Hated by those around him for being so rigid and perfectionist , is a lawyer (sort of a doubly whammy), lives on the east coast where people don't get touchy/feely like you hippy types. Sort of like the ignored puppy when he gets a little attenton. Oh, also gay and likes swarthy middle eastern types.
(Just foolin about Evan, never met him. Except for the lawyer part, and maybe the swarthy stuff)

Yikes McFezter--I think you nailed it! If he's anything, Turk is "swarthy"!
BTW--some of us lawyers are cuddly--you wanna hug?

The serial # is GSX 004, located on the sweat band just behind the bill and off center to the left. Toward the rear of the cap and under the sweat band there is a tag that says "hand wash, cold, line dry" and just below that it says "Made in China". It is my understanding that some early models were made in China but for subsequent models only the "tubs" were made in China yet all embroidery was done in the states. Waddaya think....REAL?
Cheers, Pete

The deal I made with Turk was if you guys took Evan in as a Gashole.....you had to keep him! NO GIVE BACKS!!!!!!!!!!!
If you want to see Evan's ugly side, just give him 2nd place in a car show! just joking sir!!!!!
It really is a beautiful car....now that the rivets are fixed.
McFez,
What the hell happened to you with all this Kumbaya crap?????
Its OK, it looks like you corrected yerself a few posts later.
To All,
So when will the Gashole Ringer be chosen to face off agin the Club Cranky ringer on the track????

Agent 004
Obviously, someone has gone to great lengths to "originate" this unit. It seems to be "real", but as in any other endeavor, where great value is at stake (?), it's the fine details that will trip up the replicas from the originals. Not being as anal about details as some of the other members around here, such as your new found friend Evan, and especially the missing in action Steve Sunshine, I will make a stab at it. The most telling mistake is the placement of the air venting "rivits". I will not divulge the proper placement and size details, for obvious reasons, but will nod my head yeah or nea if you can discribe them to me. Of course, that opens up the discussion of the meaning of real, and what constitutes sex, and the definition of yes/no and.......anyway,
I await your reply

Fez, There are 5 air vent rivets. The front rivets are centered directly on the hat?s midline and the flanking 2 are spaced 5 inches to either side. The next 2 are 4 inches behind those in front of them. Then there is about 1 inch of material behind the last rivet on each side and ahead of the rear hat closure. This is clearly not a hat made for someone like Jamo since more rivets would have been required.
As for your statement:
"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer"
We Gasholes have a similar saying:
"Its better to have him inside the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in"
Cheers, Pete

My understanding is that the originals did NOT have Velcro. Is that true!

You are correct, the rear closure is leather with a metal (brass) closure thingy. The velcro is a dead give away for the continuation caps or someone with a velcro fetish.

What rear closure--is that what those things are for? Mine won't "close".
BTW--DV leant me his pocket knife. Do you know how hard it was not to pop a rivet on Evan's hood when we were in the trailor?
JM--you're right, sooner or later we've all got to get together and formulate huge amounts of BS to dump upon the rest of the populace. If nothing else comes up in the meantime--let's start planning on the DVSFIII.

Jamo,
Oh I WILL be ready for DVSFIII, but don't try to make me a Gashole!
I am a true Club Cranky guy through and through. Looks like both groups do like to have the same kind of 'after hours fun'.
Who did Tuk and Pat have to sleep with to run open pipes all weekend.
If I'm coming, its with the 289 with race rubber and I have a set of 289 open pipes (full length) already made for the track.
Them long thin tubes really kick it up.
And I don't drink Raki either. McFez brought a bottle of that crap up to the Glen last October, I used it to clean my spark plugs.
Now...you give me enough Johnny Walker Blue and I can channel the sprits of Elvis, Ann Landers, General Franco Francissimo, Natalie Wood and Johnnie Holmes all in one sitting.

Jamo,
Why not move the DVSF to Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, Then Club Cranky guys will show up. No open track, no Club Cranky.
We just don't see the sense of towing all day to hang out and BS.
When SAAC went from a car show to Open track/ car show their attendance increased. It can still be a fund raiser but at a better venue.

That is ALL you guys do. BS.
We are proud of ours, you hide yours!
We are not evangelical about our converts. They voluntarily become a Gashole within minutes of our company. The rest of it is up to them to remain a Gashole.
You know you can get kicked out of our club for whining about distances, irresponsible behaviour, and someone messing up your thread. It doesn't take much to get kicked out.
No warning, no nuthin!
Wham! You're gone.
We have hundreds of others waiting to get in.
John M,
We didn't need to sleep with anyone else to run the open pipes. We travelled 5000 miles in the circus wagon for 10 days. We are monogomous that way! If you know what I mean?
Who was going to stop us! We are bad! We come from the Gangland! Just look at our hats! Would you want to mess with us?
