If you really like browsing through old race photos and history, here is a fabulous site on the early history at VIR:

It has quite a bit of info from 1950's thru 1975....you can spend quite a bit of time going over the photo albums...some nice Cobra pics scattered about!

What a find! Thanks for posting the link. I absolutely love that track. I am fortunate that it is only 2 and a half hours from my home. I have been many times to watch various events (Mostly Cobras of course) since it reopened. My step mother used to watch races there in the late 60's and early 70's before the track closed. It is really neat to look at the pictures of the track during construction and compare them to the way the track looks now.
