Default Racing results from SAAC

Found these times and results from the recent SAAC convention.

Looks like the little 289 Mustang from CT. was the quickest car in the vintage races.

Default Attention sb Cobra racers!!!

Check out the results in the Cobra race. First place, a professionally prepared, modern day Cobra Replica (challenge car) with all the latest current state of the art mods.

Second Place, an original 3000 series 427 car!!! Beat out ALL the other sb cars including 3 other replica (challenge cars).

And came from a fifth place start to do so.

So much for your precious small block comp cars. Seems that a 427 car also saved the Cobra bacon at Monterrey last year too, didn't it?

427's rule

McFez,
I was more interested in the lap times. The 289 Mustang was 5 seconds faster than the 427 Cobra.
Cranky

427's rule but sb's are quicker.

Check out several neat things happening in the GT/TA race. A Boss 302 T/A car should be a lot faster than 4 year older GT350. And the T/A's driver, pro Boris Said. But it only managed a 3rd. I have spoken to Scott Hackenson about his race. Dan Luckow's car is about as far from a 65 car as you could imagine. As is Chuck Bentleys. Big motors WELL over 450HP, lots of modern chassis tech, pretty much state of the art "Vintage" cars. One of the only "original" R models in the field is Kopecs. How about car #92, 6th at the start, immediately to 24th and back to finish 7th. And car 981, 44 to 19th. But the times for the two fields are about equal, 10 seconds over the first 10 Cobras (of 16), and the first 21 GT's (of 45). And I would like to see the full times for the two pole sitters, probably a lot less than 1 second.

So Old Tek Cobras faired pretty well against some superior "vintage" Mustangs.
