Bit the bullet and bought the fuel cell
This is one modification that I really procrastinated on. I ended up going with a custom unit from Fuel Safe because all of the shelf products would have necessitated cutting the trunk or would hang down too low. It will be made out of nice & shiny aluminum, hold 21 gallons and come with all the wazoo features. It sucks having to buy something you hope you never have to use. But I will definitely feel much safer. Lately it appears there have been a lot of gas station fires on the news. You know where someone starts the pump, gets back in the car, then goes back to stop the pump and starts a fire via static shock. There was one in particular where some moron was filling gas cans in the back of his pickup truck (you are supposed to fill them on the ground). Anyway, fire started and gas/fire got onto his legs. He was running through the gas station on fire until a fellow patron threw him on the ground and put him out. Seeing this guy burn spurred me into action. At least I can start getting my butt beat in AIX and solo I now.
