Default quartermaster clutch

Has anyone used the 8 1/2 inch quartermaster single disk clutch? I just put one in the cobra. Scott

No help here Scott. Just curious, a single disc? Thought they were all 2 or 3 disc units to get the surface area with out the weight so far out on the wheel.

Don, for some street use, RDI and quarter master did not recomend the multi disk set up. They just came out with the 8 1/2 inch clutch package which includes an aluminum fly wheel. Thats what they recomended in front of the jerrico I just installed. We'll see how it goes at road america in a few weeks. Scott

Default New Transmission

Glad to see you finally gave up on the Tremec's. I tried a Jerico once, for just a handfull of laps at the Glen. Really sweet on the way up, just breathed it ever so slightly and gave it a tug, just like butter. Understand you can do full power upshifts, but it wasn't my car. Now going down was another matter. It would go easy enought, but trying to match the revs that quickly (and it was a small block, so no FE cr*p please) proved dangerous and difficult. Lots of practice needed here. There was multiple references to wheel hop under braking/downshifting on the NASCAR Glen coverage, so be careful. After one especially exciting attempt at turn one, I just slapped at the clutch and got on with business.

R/A sounds like a lot of fun, give it run and send some pictures.

Don

Don, I drove it on the street for a few miles. Its completely different with the tranny and aluminum flywheel. I am going to upshift with a breath off the throttle, no clutch. Downshifting for now with clutch, which will hopefully keep me from snatching the rears. I have no room to left foot brake anyway and I'm used to heel and toeing. I'll take some video and pictures. Too bad you east coasters can't make it to RA. Scott
