Carb flaters under hard braking and sharp turns..
Need some help with my carbs.
When I am on the race track under hard breaking my engine tries to die. I can keep my engine running by keeping my rpms up but I would really like to just let up on the gas until I am ready to get back into the throtle.
Here are my particulars:
428 CJ 2X4 Edelbrock 600 cfms (front jets are .078 and rears are .068)on a Edelbrock Medium Riser; Holley Red electric fuel pump: Fram fire wall mounted fuel filter;Cam= Crane 572 lift with 235 duration solid lifters; Crane matched double springs; Crane solid lifters; Sig Erson roller rockers w/ Smith push rods; MSD Distributor; MSD 6AL Ign Box; MSD Black vibration proof Coil; bored .030 over; 10.6 : 1 compression; Speed Pro forged flat top pistons; forged eagle rods; Federal Mogul bearings.
Open for any suggestions asap. Leaving for Road America next week.
Thanks,
Clois

Got slosh vents? Got Holley screens over them with extentions?
When braking hard on some Holleys, the fuel sloshes up the vent and into the venturi area. I think they have screens and extentions that control the excess fuel from entering the carb and flooding the engine.
Engines that have Holleys with sloshing problems act like the choke is stuck shut when braking hard.
Just a thought.
Good morning.

If you are road racing or autox you can get road race floats to overcome the problems you are having.

Get the white vent baffles for your fuel bowls. They look like little whistles

Cheap
I have had the vent issue on side hung float bowls that even the vent 'whistles' didn't fix. Being to cheap at the time to replace bowls, floats etc I took a loop of fuel hose and connected the two vents together with a hole cut at the very top to act as the vent (cut the hole with the hose OFF the carbs and flush out the junk before putting the hose on!). Worked for me.

You may have too much carb to begin with. the added slosh is killing you. extend the factory vent tubes by 3-4" with a piece of rubber line. Or if you really want to look cool run one vent to the other as described above
