Can anyone identify these sponsor stickers?
Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out the one with the red edge between the #6 meatball and the 427 logo.
I'm also trying to figure out the one just to the lower right of the Gulf sticker.
This is the Lowther/Grossman car at 1965 Sebring race.
Many thanks!

Not sure on the stickers, but a sweet period photo nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.

Yes great looking car.
Didn't Boyd Coddington build an exact copy of this Cobra?

My mistake
Sorry about that - yes it is indeed CSX3016 from 66 Sebring. It's still the Lowther/Grossman car, though. At least I got that part right...
I'm also hunting down information on the 65 Sebring Corvette Grand Sport - no wonder I can't find anything if I keep transposing the years!!
The pic is not mine, but it is a good one.

One of the things a "contributor" (one with a gold trophy) can do is DELETE entirely a "post". Just select "edit" in your existing post and at the very top the FIRST thing that comes up is a box to check next to the words "Delete". Check the box, ALSO check "Delete Now" and finally check "Save Changes". Boom, post is gone!
I'm not suggesting you need to do that NOW for THIS thread, just pointing it out for ALL the "Gold Trophy" guys!

Seems to me there was a gasoline company that had red horse, maybe winged?
Found this site, you may want to send the photo to him:

The gasoline company with the Pegasus was Mobil. I don't think that's the sticker he's talking about. Maybe Wynns products?

The sticker I'm clueless on is just to the right of the 427 side logo. I know the Fram, Autolite, Gulf and (looks like) Cobra.
I was thinking Conoco because it's the only thing I know of that even has a similar shape.

Kyosho Sebring Cobra
Hi,
Yes, I have seen that one. Kyosho actually got a LOT of things wrong on this diecast.
The Kyosho diecast looks a lot like the car that was restored to look like the 1966 Sebring car.

Hello, I found this forum by searching for chassis number csx3016 on google.
I am the present owner of csx3016 and I am interested in knowing the source of this picture because i am interested in getting a copy of the original. I am also interested in finding any other pictures of this car when it was racing in the 60's.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Great car!
First off, let me compliment you on your choice of automobiles...
I know who the guy is and I have been trying to contact him to get exactly the same thing for myself.
Any chance of seeing what pictures you do have, as well as any restored pics?
I will another effort to get ahold of him.

My mistake
Sorry Cobraguy 1 but I believe that we are talking about the CSX3022 (not the 3016). CSX 3022 was the Grossman/Lowther's car at Sebring in 1966 (from Scuderia Bear). See link here attached for more details:
http://wspr-racing.com/wspr/results/wscc/ms1966.html
Unfortunately, I do not find any detail regarding the mysterious logos.

The Boyd Coddington replica appears to have been cloned after CSX-3016. See January 2003 copy of KIT CAR magazine.
My ERA-576 was cloned after Drew Serb's CSX-3022.
The restoration of CSX-3022 was detailed in the October 1995 Super Ford magazine, pages 82 thru 84.
You can also see the restored CSX-3022 as displayed at the Peterson Automotive Museum http://www.petersen.org/default.cfm?...ID=264&index=1

This can get tricky....
I think CSX3022, now, is a clone of the way CSX3016 was in race trim back in the day.
CSX3022 didn't look that way back then. CSX3022 was the Dockery Ford car out of New Jersey in 1966. It was sold to the dealer in primer and they painted it gold with a black stripe. It ran at VIR in 1966 (maybe) and 1967 (for sure). The black nose stripe kept getting bigger over time as they touched up the nose dings.
It later spent time in classic blue with white stripes, as it posed for the famous Kimble Cutaway-Cobra poster
