Father-Son Double Duo challenge for 12 Hours of Summit Point
June 2, 2005 - Richmond, VA
Team Elam (Richmond, VA) announced that they will be running the eVisory Daytona Coupe replica at this weekend’s 12 Hours of Summit Point. This popular endurance race for sports cars pits the Factory Five Daytona Coupe against Porsches, BMWs, and other popular race cars. The round-the-clock-race is sanctioned by the Washington, DC chapter of the Sports Car Club of America.
The eVisory Daytona Coupe will be driven by the father-son duos of Harry Elam (Corolla, NC), Dan Elam (Richmond, VA), Bryan Dobyns (Manassas, VA), and Dave Dobyns (Manassas, VA). The experienced team of drivers all have wins at Summit Point, but the race car is new and has never been raced before. The car is sponsored by eVisory Consulting, BDM Racing, and Marcus Motorsports. Crew chief Steve Marcus is a former BMW Grand-Am team owner. Marcus Motorsports built the nearly 500HP car and BDM Racing has been helping to prepare the car.
“We’ll be fast, but we don’t really know whether we can win this thing or not,” said Dan Elam. “We’re excited to bring back a classic 1960s style, but we know we’re going to have to work to end the dominance that the modern Porsches and Ferraris have used to dominate in recent years.”
