Sal. I have been instructing for almost 10 years so I can give you a couple of easy to remember tips right here.
1. Learn where the flag stations are and learn what the flags mean. You will be shown this at the very first drivers meeting you attend.
2. When you are driving the correct line around the track(you will be shown that the very first day) NEVER get out of line to let somebody pass you. The track belongs to the person running in front. It is up to the passer to find a way around you.(the fast guys know how to do this)
3. Do not attempt to impress your instructor(because you can't).Do not try to scare your instructor.(he already is)

Good luck,

RD

Good luck,
I was going to post something like that, but Roger covered all the bases all too well..........read, reread the three things above and memorize them and you'll be o-k........

One thing no one has mentioned yet........this track stuff will be the most fun you'll have with your clothes on and addicting as any drug and if you stay with it, as expensive as all drugs!!!!!!!!! but, damn, it's worth every penny..............

I would think it's going to be difficult to repliace the Bill Boards with 'street' tires just for a track day or two. Reality being what it is, I'd run the Bill Boards, even if I was a 'newbie'. How about RAISING the tire pressure to 35-40 is you want to LOOSE some of the traction the Bill Boards offer.

Would raising the pressure be equal to running 'street' tires, if the concern is for a newbie with to much traction? I know it makes a big difference on mine when I crank up the pressure.

On both the Excalibur and my ERA the cars were delivered to me with street tires, traction was a serious issue. Oh sure, I quickly learned how dang easy it was to 'spin out' with those worthless hides! The first modification I did on BOTH cars was get some decent rubber under them to gain some control!
