Default NYS Registered A&C Cobras

Did anyone have trouble with the light package from A&C passing the NYS certification process. I read that some of the turn signal lenses were not DOT approved.

Hi

I am getting ready to take mine for inspection very soon.
I was told that as long as they are visible from the side, which the A&C ones are, it should be OK?

I talked to Tom at the Albany DMV yesterday. He said my lights would not be ok because of the lack of DOT/SAE numbers. He said the only other way is a AMICA certification. Factory Five lights come with that paper work in order to pass NYS Certification.

Wish I knew what was up. From pictures it looks like other A&Cs have gone through with the stock lights.

I have yet to have an inspector look for the DOT markings on tail lamps or front turn laps.....You can get the lenses with the markings from some suppliers.

The lights are front turn, rear turn and brake, and license plate . Its not the inspector I have a problem with. Its the paper work from the State I have to fill out and send in to get a inspection date. On that paper it asks for , among several other things, DOT/SAE markings and lens colors for all lights on vehicle including back up lights which my car does not even possess at this time.

When I talked with Tom in Albany, the guy all this paperwork goes to, the guy running the VIN process, he said I had to provide the info in order to get an inspection appointment. With out #s no appointment. His suggestion to me was get lights with proper numbers on them.

I still say other guys have got away with those lights in NYS. I just dont know how right now.
