Default How much clearance

Rolled the cobra out of the garage today and hung the car up on the Bell housing. There is about a inch drop from the concrete floor to the driveway. Then the driveway starts to drop downhill. Wouldnt have though it would be a problem. Pulled the car back into the garage to have a look at clearances. I never paid much attention to the bell housing in the past, was worried about the oil pan, but there isnt much distance between the ground and the bottom of the bell. Cant see were there is any change to get clearance either.

The car has a 351 Windsor with a 3550 Tremec attached through a Lakewood scattershield bell housing. Just wondering what kind of clearance you folks have?

Thanks,

Aaron

It sounds like the motor and trans may be to low in the car, also you may want to check and see if the carb flange is level if its not you may be able to shim the trans up a bit.

Do we have clearance Clarence?

Anyway, clearance should be 4-5". Some cut off a bit of the bellhousing for additional clearance.

I have 2.75 inches between the bottom of the bellhousing and the street. It hasn't been a problem so far but I "angle" over speed bumps and go around pot holes.
Yippie !
