I haven't posted here in awhile but always willing to help an A & C owner. I've run a Tilton hydraulic bearing since 2000. I've never had a problem and the car still runs great. Take your time setting it up. Their tech is top notch.

By the way, my gelcoat still looks like a paint job. Buff it yearly with stuff from a boat store. Had a bit of a blemish recently. Managed a little crush at the air intake; about 1"wide and 1/4" deep. Bought the gelcoat repair kit from West Marine (3m Product) worked great. I'm at the point of finishing sanding (600 grit then 1200) and polishing out with 3M compound.

Although my build site has not been updated for years (I'm driving the car) it may help you in your build.

Default thanks

Thanks Roscoe I ordered a hyd. throw bearing today. I read a lot of articles on setting them up. Seems if you spend the time setting it up properly you should be problem free. I had hoped this build would be enjoyable, it has not, I would not do it again. I talk to a couple of buddies they do frame off restore jobs, stuff you see at Barrett Jackson. They both think it's going pretty smooth. I guess I expected it to go together without cutting and be square not 5/8" off UGH!!! But it's starting to look good.

Make sure when you setup the bearing you include a stop on the pedal. If you overstroke the bearing you will pop the seal.....not a good thing to do. My bearing has been in for over 11 years now and about 28k miles. Some of that time has been on a road race course.

It took me 2.5 years to finish mine. When I first started it looked overwhelming but I broke the build down into sections and systems. The whole build just seemed more manageable.

Default to bearing

The parts showed up today read the instructions seems pretty straight forward. Need to come up with a pedal stop so I can't blow out the o-ring. I won't be working on the car for a few days have to get ready for the weekend so most likely it will be Sunday afternoon before I pull out the transmission. I hope it falls in the air gap range of .100 to .300. If it doesn't I send the part in and the factory will change the piston of the correct length. I worked on the wiring a little bit tonight. Lost interest so I started up the HD and went for a put first ride of the year yea I needed that!!!!

Default ok

Ok the hyd throwout bearing is in and working, the guys at Summit racing said most of the guys are using them. So what's left to do, hook up all the gauges and toggle switches, put the interior in, mount the roll bar and emergency brake. I have my appointment for the inspection next friday 6/15 hope it goes smoothly.

Well things didn't go as planned I didn't feel well at work. Went to health unit my blood pressure was 190 over 100. The nurse was freaking out, so I went to my doc. I was told to take it very easy this weekend and put me on high blood pressure meds. So I didn't touch the car last night or today. All that is left is to finish the carpet and put the seats in..... So I'll call next week for a new inspection time. UGH!!!! Soon I hope, they said 2 weeks to get the vin plate and I couldn't get my title before that. Then I have to take back to them so they can install the vin plate. Looks like London is not going to happen. Maybe the Good Guys in Columbus!!!

Dave:
Good greif, take care of yourself and don't worry about the car.
Stop putting deadlines on yourself and the car.
Next weekend, take a ride to London in the Truck and visit all the cars on main street.
Watch some burn outs, maybe spend $10 and let someone give you a ride.
Get the lunch in the basement of the church, watch some burnouts and look at all the different examples of the thing you are building.
I'm still thinking of just driving down for the day. (Not with the car).
If you want, and if I still go, I can give you a call and pick you up on the way down.
Gotta buy a couple of the raffle tickets and support CF. Maybe get a T shirt.
Let's talk later in the week.
Take care of yourself, relax, as you know life is too short.
You more than most know that.
I'll be thinking of you!
Take care and let's talk later in the week!
Jim

Default 1st drive

Had the first drive today. Still have a few little loose ends but nothing major to tie up. Wow!! didn't run it hard , well not too hard. Had no trouble breaking the tires loose. This is going to be fun to drive. Felt kinda funny, short, no power brakes or power steering made me feel young again HEHEHE!!!!

Default inspection day

I take the car to be inspected on monday. Seems like this day would never get here , just so many little things to do that you didn't think would take very long. Next thing you know it's been 3 hours ugh!! had to change out the clutch master cyl, I had a .750 bore and wasn't quite enough,it didn't have any adjustment left and it was grinding going into reverse, and as soon as the clutch pedal left the floor you were moving. So I put in a .875 bore much better plenty of adjustment and pedal. I'm a little nervous hope all goes well on Monday. I don't like the idea of having to wait 2 weeks after the inspection before I get the vin plate, no vin plate no driving !!! Oh well it's been 10 months what's another 2 weeks....

Default fun fun fun

Sorry haven't posted in a while. Been drving the tires off, man is it fun. Taken it to a few car shows/cruise in. Brought home 2 trophies didn't think I stood a chance a bunch of nice cars there. People are drawn to the the car everyone is blown away, it sound awsesome going through town. Turned out better than I thought. I've tried to post pics, have to figure out how to shrink them down.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your ride.
I told you from 0 to 60 it is the most fun you can have with your pants still on.
As far as loading pics, there have been a zillion posts on this.
Just search "How to post pics".
You can load them into your gallery or you can stick them right in your post.
