Question Frame dimensions difference.

I'm building an AC&C cobra kit car. Got the frame last year and have been busy... Anyway - I was putting the suspension on and when I was aligning the front wheels I noticed that the outer rails (mid section of the car) were shorter on the passenger side then on the drivers side. If I measure from the inner frame to the outer rail I get 13" on the passenger side; If I do the same measurement on the drivers side I get 14"? why would one side be one inch wider on the drivers side. I haven't had a chance to talk to Sunny or Joe at AC yet.

Thanks,
PJ

To allow more footbox room on drivers side. ERAs are similar.

Default Side Pipe FYI

As you have found, the body is not equal on both sides and as you get to positioning it you will notice other minor inconsistencies from side to side. So to save you a bunch of rework on side pipes, bumpers, brackets, etc. I suggest temporarily positioning the body on the frame first. When you are satisfied with the positioning drill a 1/8" alignment hole through the body into the frame in each corner and drop a #12 nail in each to keep it in position. Then you will be able to fabricate brackets and other needed pieces to make the car appear as symmetrical as possible.

Good luck, Sam
