Default Stewart Warner Temp Gage

anyone having trouble with getting the correct temp reading on your gage. I have changed the sender twice and i still have incorrect readings. there is like a 30 degree difference, sometimes more between the gauge and a thermal reader. My gage reads 280 when at the sender its 205 degree on my 63 1/2 427. I have made sure that there isn't any teflon on the thread. The ground on my gauge is grounded to the cowl bar. Just don't get it.

any help would be appreciated.
thank you
Nelson

Is the sender the correct range for the gauge?
Dumb question but just making sure!

I believe so. I called Stewart Warner Tech and give them the number on the sender that came with the kit from AC. I ordered another sender from summit and installed it. Still no real change.

Odd! I'm not sure that the gauge can be recalibrated. May have to get another and try that.
