Default Headlight bucket shim needed

I aligned my headlights height, now I am not able to put the chrome trim rings back on because I needed to adjust them so far. I think I need to add some type of tapered shim behind the headlight bucket. This way I won’t need to turn the screws as far and therefore should be able to put the trim rings back on. Anyone run into this problem?

I ran into the problem when changing to a Lucas PL700 , the inner trim ring was no longer tight against bulb, I shimmed using a rectangular shape rubber bumper
