Antique & Collectible wheel question

Appreciate any comments from Antique & Collectible builders; I am having trouble finding rims. I would like to run 15 x 8 on the front and 15 x 10 rims on the rear. I put 11 inch rotors on the front. When I called Joe at A&C he suggested I get rims with a 4.75 rear offset because of the 11 inch rotors. This seems deep to me and I can't find any 15 inch rims with that offset. I do not want the tires to stick way out from the wheel wells, what have you found in rim sizes that you like?

Hi,

When I first started my A&C I worked with John York from York sports cars in Virginia. He builds a lot of A&C kits and knows how to do it top dollar and budget plan. Since the real halibrand type wheels can be pretty pricey, He recommended a wheel from American racing wheels called a "chrome nugget" (bought through Pep Boys) It's actually a truck wheel, but comes with the correct offsets. I didn't pursue that route so I don't remember any more of the details. But if you do a search on York Sports cars, you can give John a call. Numerous folks here have worked with him and will tell you that John doesn't mind sharing what he has learned even when isn't going to make a buck from it. Give him a call. This is the setup I've got on my A&C

I have 11" rotors all around with Outlaw 4 piston calipers in the front and Explorer in the rear. Originally had the big GM in the front which Joe supplied.

Rims are PS Engineering. Front are 15 x 7.5 or 8 with a 4.5 offset. The rears are 15 x 9.5 or 10 with a 4" offset.

Tires are BF Goodrich. Front 245/60 Rear 295/50

Hi Jerry,
I put 15 X 8 and 15 X 10 with 245/60/15 and 275/60/15 on my A&C. I used the 11 inch brake kits from Joe, front GM intermediate and rear SVO. Look in my gallery to see if you like the look. The wheels are Team III and I am very happy with them. They can make the wheels in almost any off-set. I believe mine were 4.5 inch back spacing. I even purchased the knock-off style spinners from them. They actually spin on like knock-off's.

I also used the Team III's and I'm happy withthe way they look.

I ordered mine from Finish Line and they had them to me in under 3 weeks. They will have the wheels built to your specs; the specs Joe gave you is correct and worked for me.

If you are running a 4-3/4 bolt spacing n79825 has a set of Team III wheels for sale at a very good price--about half of what is normal.

The wheels that he is selling have the wrong bolt pattern for a Ford and I believe they are for a Bowtie. You would have to use adaptors which would change your backset.

Jerry: PS and the others that make original looking wheels are great but $$$$. I went with American Racing "Torque Thrust D" wheels. !5x7 with 235x60 BFG's front and 15x10 with 295x50 in back. I have about $1200 in wheels and tires. They only come standard I think 3 3/4 or 4" BS no specials offered. The fronts stick out about 1/2" the backs are under the wheel well about 1/2". I like my ride height, although my oil pan is only 3 1/2" from the pavement.

Roscoe: Yes but a Milodin, Remember I hit the plug on the original stock pan, the first day on the road. Canton and others are a bit pricy, I kinda watch for critters and speed bumps and some driveway aprons.
Hey, bye the way, I just emailed Brent about the forum for A & C guys. haven't heard back yet. I did email Joe T at A & C and he gave permission and asked if there is anything else he needs to do.
So, not sure what's next.

I love the look of the wheels on your Cobra. There is a picture in the Shelby American Original Archive book of a Cobra running wheels that look just like that.

If anyone needs parts of any kind at a good price, I am dealing with a guy I found on Ebay. He gave me a great deal on a Canton Pan and pump for my 428. I don't have the information here at work, but I will post it when I get home. Anyway, If Joe at A&C said O.K. to us having our own area, let's get things moving. I am so happy that we are trying to do this. I always need help and I like sharing what I know.

Mike: thanks, I like 'em too and the price was right. These are the same wheels I ran on my cars back in the 60/70 era. A lot of the original Shelby Mustangs and comp cars ran magnesium versions of this style wheel. Strong and light weight.
If you polled the CC and FFR members you'll find there are a bunch of people running this combo.
Getting back to the A & C Forum, like I said I did email Brent M, so we'll see where it goes.
