Sway Bars
Is anyone here running a sway bar on their A&C? I seem to remeber seeing one on someones car up here. (Roscoe?) Does it make a big differnce in the handling? Who's setup are you running?
Thanks,
Jim

A sway bar makes a huge difference in the handling.Generally a thicker ,stiffer one up front than the rear on any make of Cobra.

I don't know an AC car, but as stated they make a world of difference. And yes a stiffer one on the front. Do a search on this site and look for my name. I posted some pretty extensive pics along with contact info and part numbers. If you cannot find it or just have questions PM me and I will help.

I've got a 1" sway bar in the front. I'm sure it's improved the handling but I did it from the getgo so I can't say how much.
Here you can see it attached to the crossmember
And here is the end attachment

Thanks, guys. RBLong, I checked out you links it looks very nice and super heavy duty, but it does seem to hang pretty low. Have you even had any problems with ground clearance?
What I was thinking was something more like Roscoe's. It doesn't look anyone makes a setup which will just bolt on without some fabrication. Roscoe I like those brackets that bolt on to the sway bar mounts. Did you fabricate them or does someone make them? Pending that it sounds like my best bet is take some measurements and then call Heidt's see what they have that's close and use that as a starting point..
Ok now for my really interesting question. The stock setup on the A&C uses strut rods to handle the braking loads place on the control arm, instead of A shaped lower control arm.. Has anyone ever toyed with idea of gettting rid of the strut arms, and instead use the sway bar bolted directly to the lower control arm to handle the braking loads? Trust me I know you would need a really heavy duty arm and wouldn't gain me much other than 10 lbs of wieght and a cleaner look.
Thanks,
Jim

Those mounting brackets came with my swaybar. I may have fabricated the 'L' brackets.

Yeah....I tried looking it up but it looks like he is out of business. I do remember measuring point to point for him.
