Cruise control info
Bob Broberg and a few other guys at John's asked about the cruise control I added this summer. It is the Audiovox CCS-100 kit that sells for about $99 from several online companies - JCWhitney, Amazon, etc. From the Audiovox site, click on Find Manual to download a PDF.

It was tough to add it to my modular 4.6 but is much easier to add to a (primitive) push rod engine that has only one coil. If you don't have a VSS signal the kit includes everything for a magnetic pickup on the drive shaft. It also includes lots of parts to connect to various throttle designs. Small (1.5" x 2") control on dash, 3" round vacuum servo in engine compartment, connect to brake light switch, connect to vacuum, dash lights, etc.

I put one of those on one of my cars (not the Cobra), same kit, piece of cake, works like a charm. The biggest issue is getting the correct settings for the dip switches, which varies a LOT from vehicle to vehicle. That was tough to nail down, even with the good instructions.

AZ Pete, thanks for the info. I am winding down the number of items that I have left to do on my Cobra and the cruise control will be installed before the paint goes on.

I never even gave it a second thought, putting one in my Cobra, sounds strange, you can't do that!? Hmm, I'll have to consider it I guess, now that it's been mentioned. I do have plans for some long distance driving.
Vacuum signal could be a problem, with my cam profile, might have to run a vacuum holding canister thingy.

I had my installer add cruise control only because I can't keep an even keel and hate to play games on the freeway. Mine is a Rostra unit and it works great. I wish more people would use theirs, it's a no brainer. Besides, I suffer from road rage when people pi$$ me off speeding up then slowing down. If I could I would eliminate them permanently. Cliff
