Default Yarnell Hill - Prescott Run

The Yarnell Hill run was a blast, lots of Cobras and even a Mazda Miata.
No little dog this trip but I did see this character there.

The extra time riding across Verde Valley was worth it.. What a beautiful trip.....until we got to Payson and found half the world trying to get back to Mesa.

Good ride Mikie. I'm glad you thought of it.

Great photo! I love the Mogollion rim drive - where did you to/from Payson? When we come from Colorado we always go that route to Phoenix. The stretch of 377 from Holbrook by Dry Lake is my favorite - nothing for miles.

Did you guys go Phoenix-Wickenburg-Prescott-Payson-Phoenix? What's that, 300 miles or so? Man, that must have taken like 3 or 4 hours.

Default Great Run

Great day, great run. Except the I-17 parking lot from Anthem south. I know we had 18 cobras and 3 ways home from Prescott. 3 of us chose the direct way. I got off last minute at Daisey Mountain, went north to New River exit, followed New River road south to 7th st then east on Carefree hwy to 27th Ave then south to Happy Valley. Wow, an extra about 30 minutes but no stop and go. Man's got to know the territory.
During the trip I tried to point out my old home in Wickenburg and J&G gun store in Prescott.

A fine job you did of it, Bob. I've got more than my share of time at J&G also. Back in the days when you could buy a Pattern 1917 for $59.00.

Sandy, yes that is the run that Bob and I made. We went over Mingus and down through Cottonwood and Camp Verde then on up through Strawberry, Pine Payson, and home. It was spectacular with cool weather, beautiful vistas and little traffic until you got to the south side of Payson. Even then it wasn't bad.

I went back down 89. No traffic, encountered a few drivers going down the hill from Prescott and Yarnell. They were all nice enough to pull over so I could get by.

Now I have to clean the car before Friday's run.

I followed Dan to Payson where he turned into a gas station and I kept going. Trip from Payson to Chandler was brutal, lots of traffic. I left at 7:30 Sunday morning and got home at 5:00. Next time I will track the milage. Hell of a lot of seat time. Dans right the scenery over to Payson was great.
