Hardtop for CSX 4000
Forgive me if this question has been asked before but does anyone (Shelby American or otherwise) make a hardtop specifically for the CSX 4000 series?

Ron,
Try here:
A hardtop, specially made for the ERA, is available from Dick Powell, 207-469-2165 207-469-2165)
He might be able to help.

Thanks for the info. I will check them out. I have not decided if I will really use one or not but have never heard of one being available.

csx4910 ........... i am having a hard time saying to myself ' why do you want a hardtop ???????? since you have a black car and live in Arizona " ...can you say SAUNA when inside with a black hardtop, unless you have A/C ? LOL .....
hey, it makes a good shade anyway and keeps the skin properly underexposed . i actually put my soft top UP on some summer days to hide from the sun . Bill

Here's one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
The tops of 289 and 427's are the same and come up on e-bay from time to time like this one. If your windsheild has been installed correctly it should be a drop on deal. Some of the top attaching hardware is harder to find than the tops are but I make some of that stuff if you're in need.

Kirkham makes an aluminum top if you're looking for the fastback LeMans style top.
Super nice but make sure you're sitting down when you ask how much!

I am not sure. It is tough finding something that doesnt look like an afterthought. I like the lemans top but didnt know if the kirkham one would fit. Anyone know if it is made from Glass or Alum?

I think the Kirkham hard top is hand built specifically to the car in Poland. It's expensive as an option on a new Kirkham, but imagine how much more expensive it would be sending your car off to Poland to get one made...

Hey Dan I think they will fit originals or CCX's. There's a good thread on here about protecting the paint from rubbing from the top. SPF's maybe?

Well I am not one of those that has the skill to modify something. I would need something that bolts right on and is made to fit it, not close. I would rather wait and make sure it is something made for it than have something that fits that badly.

That's the problem with accessory parts for these cars. Every car is different , even among the same brands. I made that top to fit a CSX 2000 series car ,It fit perfectly. I can't make one to fit every brand, every variation, I'd end up with hundreds, maybe thousands of molds. Offer still stands to anyone that wants one, bring you car to me and I'll fit it to your car for free.

I completely understand about not being able to make one for every car. Right now I would settle for getting my engine back from Roush, let alone getting it to Penn. 3 months without it has given me a lot of time on my hands to think about what I want to do on the car. I just was wondering if anyone had made one specifically for that series since Shelby hasn't (as far as I know)
Thanks

THe top that I have clamps on the windshield frame with two brackets that attache where the sun visors attach and two bolts through the holes just aft of the door frame. No modification necessary other than to remove the plexiglass sun visor and attach the clips.
