Hey Fitz - my wife and I are currently in the middle of the typical boat buying couple's debate. She wants a floating cottage and I want a boat that is tailored to my version of the boating lifestyle: swimming, diving, a bit of fisishing and some entertaining/bbq'ing on the hook. I also don't want the fastest boat on the water, but I like the idea of staying out a bit longer and still being able to flog it home at 30 odd knots in a moderate sea. Clearly - I lean more towards an express with a big, open cockpit. Tiaras and older Trojans top my list.
Ironically, she is fixated on a 40 foot aft cabin yacht similar to yours, but I don't like it because it has a long ladder down to a small swim platform at the stern, which to me is a major obstacle to the all-important easy water access. I see that your boat has steps down to an integrated platform and I made the mistake of showing her the pic. Now she thinks we have found the perfect compromise.
Of course we will be shopping closer to home, but what engines are you running in your Carver and how have you found it in terms of efficiency, performance, service accessibility and robustness/quality of construction? I am particularly intertested in hull/stringer construction and related water intrusion issues.

Boat interest
This boat is perfect. Few people have been on it. Gordon Levy showing off on a jet ski thru the air ![EEK!](http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif) and Brian and Barb got on it once.
This is a 2000 Carver (listed @ 245,000); has everything this boat could get at that time. 454 Mercrusier 320HP multiport injection. Koler Generator with sound box; range/oven; ice maker; two Marine Air 16,000 BTU; Bottom painted last year (great shape) 185-190 hrs; Gets waxed by Mr. Shine every 9 months; Has always been in a covered slip; has no trailer (too big) but I use John Spenser to haul the boat out to do bottom and anything else. The guy behind me has a older Carver Santiago. Buy his and he will buy mine. Full Canvas; Direct HD Sat TV with roaming dome; New Flat Screen TVs in Aft Cabin and Main salon plus one in front suite. This is a strait inboard with engines directly under the salon for easy access. Replaced customer Refrigerator last year so it is new. Maple interior and tan carpet. Very Neutral colors.
Sits at the dock and we drink. It gets up on plane easy; About 26 knots with you take all the crap off like the canvas etc. GPS; marine radio. Wax job and it looks new.
When I was in Chicago she saw the boat and said that is what I want. So we got it. I have owned 3 Sea Ray Sundancers so I know what you mean. This is a easy boat to get into. I have a regular ladder from the dock as well. The water at Roosevelt gets to 936 degrees in the summer. The lake is 100% full right now. Boat is priced right.
Email me at fitzus2@cox.net and I will send you pictures if you are really interested.
This is the nicest boat I have ever owned and I have had some nice ones. Lived next door to the Smiths in Holland Michigan growing out always around boats. Smiths were the Chris Craft Family. Always had Centurys, Chris Crafts, Sea Rays.

Thanks for the reply Fitz - sounds like a really nice boat. I hope you find the right buyer. We're in the WI as in West Indies and while we've looked at a couple of boats locally, it's becoming clear that we'll probably end up buying something in Florida. Diesel power with straight shaft inoards are a must along with 20+ knot cruise, generator and overnight accomodations for 6.

I still can't find the picture in any gallery, good thing I'm not in the market.
Others may also be having a hard time finding the pictures.

It was sure funny watching in the Air. I remember telling your other half "now watch this when he turns that thing". I remember I forgot to tell you it doesn't spin out, it just turns. ![laughing](http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/images/smilies/laughing.gif)

To your point here is my contention. "If it floats, Fu#&$, or flies you are better off renting it!"
