Default Chucks Speed & RV Center

Anybody heard about this place (good or bad). Few of the guys that worked at B&R have moved over there since Bob Reams @ B&R have closed the shop.

Yep Fitz,
Chuck's has been around for many years. I do not have a updated or first hand recommendation for you. I am not implying any negative thoughts simply have not worked with them at all in ten years or better.

If it is the same shop I'm thinking of, I used to work with Chuck at the old Phoenix American Jeep dealership on Camelback and 16th st. That was in the late 70's.

He was, at that time, a very good mechanic who took pride in his work.

Mikie,
It makes sense you did work with Chuck as the shop has been around for years. Anymore I am just so resistant to recommend places because you put your own butt on the line in doing so and then own problems real or perceived.

It always makes a big difference who's eyes you are viewing an issue through for sure. I always cringe when asked who to use for 3 common questions. I hate the who does car painting - upholstery and chrome question.

I used to take my BBC stuff to chuck 18 or so years ago. At the time I think he was certified to machine the ferrari stuff, for whatever thats worth... I never had any issue with his work and the 454 in my 12 second vette is 18 yrs old and the bottom end has never been out of the car (I did lose a Crane valve spring and had to pull the heads once, but that was Cranes fault for bad spring recommendation). He did the right things like match bearings to specific journals for optimal clearance, used torque plate during cylinder boring/honing, etc... So, I had good luck there back then, but have not used Chuck in many years (Been using Shafiroff in NY for my 540 stuff).
