Default Adding Relays summer project

OK,

Lets see those schematics of adding a relay to the following:

Fan 30 amp load
Lights
Fuel pump 15 - 20 amp

I also need to know what relay to use? Manufactures, model number and part numbers.

Mike

Mike,
I will hook you up with everything you need. I also have a 40 amp relay you may want to consider for the fan with a diode across the load to increase relay life. We can chat this weekend. Jeff

I have some excellent wire nuts you can use. The are left over from my remodeling project.

Mike,
Now that Jeff is clearly way to busy for us small potato people would you like me to work on your car?
I'm a pretty good hand when it comes to working on cars.
Here's a couple ideas for you.
Dan

I've seen what happens to cars you work on. Almost as bad as Don.

Jeff, we will talk.

Hmm? Looked like a shot. Sounded like a shot. Reads like a shot. Why would you think it's a shot?

Hey Carnut,
I heard a vicious rumor you took a few hours out of your day to draw a schematic for our HMFIC. Actually I know you did cause I was lucky enough to get a look at it. Wow what a great job and kinda like the safety of redundant circuits you suggested.

Mike, with that data you are set. Let me know if you need any bailing wire or those twisty wire things. Jeff C

I have all the bailing wire I need, left over from my old Harley days. Plenty twisty things and bubble gum. I will need some additional wire seal and hole eraser.

You would think with him being a draftsman 'wanna be' he could have made a better drawing.

Mike, Can you use ring seal instead of hole eraser? You know, make them fit better instead of rubbing them out? I've heard a lot of guys in California do that and save big bucks.. Think on it.

A better drawing would have only confused you.

The next car Dan gets should, no, must have a sealed engine. Also, major warning signs under the hood... NO TOOLS ALLOWED.

Thanks Jerry.. I am good to go.

Just a couple of additional questions.

based on a 40amp draw.

1. Should the relay be mounted close to the switch or the device ie: fan?

2. What size wire do I need from the Battery to pin 30 and from pin 87 to device?

I'm guessing 12 to 14 Gauge.

Mike
