The new toy arrival date!!
I was notified last night that my RFGT40 is enroute to the
Melbourne Airport. It will wait there for its carrier to arrive and
load it up on a 747 to the states. The flight arrives in LAX on the
22nd . after it clears customs it will be on its way to Phoenix on
the 23rd. It should arrive around noon.
I would like to invite all that can make it to my house on Saturday the 25th of August around 1:00PM for the unpacking and inspection.
There will be plenty to drink and lots of munchies.
MikieC, if You can send a bulk e-mail to all the AZ members I
would appreciate it.
WaaaaHoooo!!!!!

Question???
Hershal,
I don't remember you saying what type of motor that you going to put in the GT40... Bowtie or Ford??? BTW, Only 9 weeks till PIR!!! Would love to be there for the crate opening but only have 1/2 hour layover @ Sky Harbor on the way back from Bristol on Sunday... Oh well, I'll get a chance to see it in October if the invite is still good???

Hey spotterjoe,
The invite still stands. I have a guest house that empty most of the time so feel free to use it. Just let me know when and it will be ready.
Hey Bill, That ain't a bad idea. The only thing is I can't afford the
shipping now!
I sure hope you get to come down here.

So, has anyone looked at the RF car vs. what used to be the USA GT40 car, now the CAV GT40? Quality? Features? Price? The CAV GT 40 is now available "turnkey minus" (the only minus is the engine, the Getrag trans is part of the package) for about $56k. I checked out the CAV website and from what I can tell, the car looks pretty impressive. The RF car also looks first rate, at least to my eye. Whad'ya think?

It's on it's way !!
I'm tracking the flight and it is enroute from Mebourne to
Sydney. They have to stop there to pick up some
unimportant crap then they will be on the way here.
It is to land in LAx by 9:30am.
I can't stand this!!!! The next two days are going to be
crazy@%@$#^@&#%@$
Stu, The RF site is currently be redone. I have seen the prototype and it is very good and informative.
I have not seen the Cav site as they were not an option when I bought. Still you must look at all the components and compare
them to one another. It's the same here as for a Cobra kit. You have to get what you believe is the best choice for your needs.
For me it was the RFGT40. I did see the Cav car up close at the Knotts show. It is a good car.
There was just certain thing about the RF car that suited me more. I can't tell you which kit is best all I can tell you is to make sure you look close and find the things you appreciate about one or the other.
As far as the transmissions go.. the RF uses an Audi 5000 box
which is made by ZF company in Germany. This trans is a proven winner for this application. They are also dirt cheap here in the States. You can expect to pay $250 to $500 for a used box.
I hope this helps

Thanks for the website info. I have a feeling that the CAV is what I saw pictures of when I was at my Cobra builder. I better not get distracted by another car and just settle(for the time being) for my soon to be completed Cobra.
Best of luck with your GT40.

Flight Tracker
What an amazing thing it is. I watched the flight come in over
the ocean on my computor and land at LAX. The plane has been on the ground now for just abot an hour. It is going to the customs warehouse for inspection then it will be shipped here. They are supposed to call me and tell me when it arrives here.
They could have brought it directly to the house but I have no way of getting off the truck. So I am picking it up at the airport where they will load it on a trailer for me.
I'm going golfing today to try and think about something else, yeah right!. I'll probably shoot the worst game of my life but who cares. Tomorrow takes forever.
